I have had some conversation swith the guys at DA and they do not recomend a bench break in. In fact, the only co. that says it is OK is 3W. I have bench broken in my 3W 157 with no issues and ran it for 4 hours straight varying rpm's every 15 seconds or so, but would not due a DA or any other without extreme care and constant monitoring of the engine temps and all important parameters. If you do dare to break one in on the bench, make sure you have 100% constant temp monitoring at all times. |

The good thing is you are only a little over an hour away from DA. Give them a call and see if you can drive it up there and drop it off. I know the folks at DA are first class and who knows mabey they will give you the nickle tour.

I will talk to DA and follow their instructions. I will try to drive it down to Tucson in the morning. Their website says office visits by appointment only. So if anyone from DA is viewing this. Please let me know if visiting to drop off the engine is ok. Thanks for the great response tothe post. Now if only there were some 35% fliers at SpeedWorld R/C park to break in the engine? |

Don't worry about breaking in the engine. Once you get it straightened out at DA, strap it on to the plane. Mix up your gas and start flying. Just make sure you don't do any hovering right off the bat and lay off the full throttle 10 minute passes and you'll be set. The DA's are not as finicky when it comes to breaking in. Just flip it and fly it. |

I will do just that. Since this was my first Big engine, I was amazed at how much power the prop blast was putting out. I can only imagine whata 150 or 200 puts out. It sounded almost like my Lycoming 180 on the old '47 Stinson. thanks all. Vern |

Is that motor new or is it used? That should help shed some light.

vernonf, good luck. i think you will be very happy with da's service and your new motor when you get it going. as for a couple others on this thread it seems if some one has any thing bad to say about loved brands the insults start flowing. this is a great forum but some people are making it sound like a snob club and if any one is new or has a problem with there favorite brands they get flamed or the dead horse thing is used. why can't we just let people say what they have to say and if we can help do so. if we don't like the thread don't read it and don't comment. randy racer |

Not a problem, I have received an apology . I know through the years at different clubs , people tend to keep to themselves and not even say hello. I am not one of those types. I love the hobby and welcome all that are interested in the subject. I was quite surprised at the last Turbine jet ralley. I kinda figured the guys would be snobbish. Man, was I wrong. These guys ,local and from afar, took me in , answered questions and invited me out to the party that night. I learned a ton!
