You should ALWAYS use the lowest grade fuel that the manufacturer tells you to use. Alot of people use premium fuel when only low grade 87 octane is recommended. I race motorcycles and cars and you should only upgrade the octane rating if you are experiencing detonation also called pre-ignition. You never will get better performance out of using higher grade fuel unless you need it because your compression ratio among other things dictates it. Unless you are experiencing problems do to detonation, always use what your engine manufacter tells you to use. Thats my two cents. I hope it helps.
