There is lot of good info on this thread and I realice that there is lots of room for improvements on my (our) setups. My DA 100cc is mounted on a WM 33% Ultimate at under 25 lbs with a TBM 27X10 prop. Very happy with 3D performance on this plane with a max 6000 R.P.M. at an altitude close to 5000 feet. Friend of mine runs the same setup with a 28 lbs 35% YAK and althougth the plane pulls out of a hover it does not have the extra punch that my Ulti has. He also gets about the same top RPM as mine. On the other hand a third friend of ours runs the DA 100cc with pipes AND a Mejzlik 27X10 prop and gets a whopping 6800 RPM at the same altitude on the ground! Question is how much of the extra 800 RPMs comes from the pipes and how much is it coming from the engine/prop combination?

I flew a 29.5 lb 35% AW Yak with MTW cans, DA 100 and a Biela 26 x 10 3-blade prop this last IMAC season. The uplines, downlines and horizontal lines were much easier to keep equal speed with good throttle management. It was so good that I naever tried any other prop - didn't have to!! I saw a some guys running the 28x10 Mejzlik at the Huckfest...seemed to do pretty good, but they were running mufflers, not cans so they were lighter. It should be alright for ya Bruce.

I ran a 27/10 VESS for a couple gallons, then switched to a 28/10 NX and like that better. I think for break in you need to us a 27"er, look at your manuel????????????????
