Hello, last weekend it was great weather, so I decided to take my Composite Arf to the field. Fueled it up and wanted to go flying but the engine didn't even pop once. After a lot of swings and pain in my arm, I took out the spark plug wich was completely soaked with fuel. Dried the spark plug and tried again. No difference... Checked if the spark plug gave a 'flash' and that seemed ok. Yesterday cleaned the carburetor and took her back to the field, without a change. Just seems there's too much fuel coming into the engine even without choking. The engine has only had about 10 flights without a problem, and always started ok. Anyone has a solution?? Friendly regards, Jean-Luc |

see if the timing marks on the hub match the hall senser and the magnet to top dead center, maybe the hub slipped

This could be one of many things but, I whent through a similar problem a while ago (spark, fuel, but no start) and sent the ignition only in for service. It turned out to be a bad plug boot/cap. Do you have the means to test your ignition on another engine ?

Yes, in a few days I'm taking the engine to a friend. We're going to switch ignition and carburetor to my engine. Hopefully we can find out the problem. maybe i can send it back to replace what's not working cause it's a brand new engine.... Jean-Luc |

Hello Things to do first: Check battery voltage Check regulator output If possible, try to test it with a 4 or 5 cell NiCad without a regulator Replace the spark plug Check all ignition related connections and look for any damaged wires Make sure the choke plate is opening and closing in the right direction. (I know... dumb question..) As mentioned try another ignition if available. If it still won't start, there is a chance something is wrong with the carb. Please let us know what you find.

I would try changing the plug, My plug would make a spark when holding it, but would not fire the engine. New plug and the motor fired up right away.

I tried with a new spark plug: no change Tried another battery for the ignition : no change I'm taking it to a friend and try his ignition system on my engine. I'll let you know if that makes a change... Jean-Luc |

Yesterday I fitted a friend's igntion system in my plane, and after 5 flips the engine was running great. So the ignition isn't working properly. I'll send mine back to repair, it should be under warranty. I think this tread may close. Thanks to all for the help, regards, Jean-Luc |
