Default DA & A123's

Can DA ignitions systems stand the 6.6 volts of the A123 batteries without a regulator? If so, Does DA approve of this>

You can use a 6v A123 battery without a regulator with the DA ignition. If you fully charge a standard NiHM 6v battery it'll read at least 7.2v.

I have talked with DA...and they officially support A123s on the ignition...if in doubt I encourage you to check for your self.

I have a123 packs on two of my DA 150's and it works great. I did talk to DA before doing it and they gave me the thumbs up.

Well looks like I'll be calling Sincityjets.com. I have them on the 9100RX, and am going to put them in the 4 other DA's I have.

Thanks Mark

Those A123's must really put out some high voltage if they will run a DA without the ignition!

I am trying to keep from cutting so many holes in the sides of my planes putting switch's everywhere for everything. So here's my question, yes I know get to the point. OK Will an Electro Dynamics fiber optic kill switch withstand the 6.6v without frying it when using the A123 in conjunction with the DA ignition system. This way I can delete the switch for the ignition and maybe just have the red light sticking out the side of the airplane so I can tell when the ignition is on or off. "I know" I should be able to tell by the location of the switch due to setting up on the TX a certain direction whether its on or off , but I would like to know that the kill switch is working, and has not malfunctioned. So I am now running the new Spectrum 9100 RX with Dual 2300mah A123's and don't have to have but one small switch to turn on the RX. So I would only have the Kill Switch light and the RX switch and that's all that would be need for any large scale plane.

Little off topic here and I'm not a DA tech, but IIRC when I called EDO they told me the FO kill switch can take up to 30 volts. I've been running them with my ZDZ's on unregulated Li-Ion's (those ignitions can take 9.0 volts) with no problems. I don't anticipate any issues when I get the A123's installed.

My call to DA about running the A123's unregulated on my new DA-100 yielded the same answer as others have mentioned; it's okay.
