Default A couple elementary questions from a Smart Fly newbie

Sorry if the questions seem simple but this is my first Smart Fly system and lithium battery set up.

First my components.....then the question(s)

2 Fromeco Relion 7.4V 4800 mah batteries
Smart Fly Turbo Reg. (1)
Smart Fly Power Expander (1)
Smart Fly Fail-safe Switch (1)
Smart Fly Charge Jacks (2)

Now for the questions.....

1. Is my Hobbico DVM adequate for checking voltage on these lithium batteries?
2. When I check voltage at the charge jacks I read 7.92V +/- (which is fine for checking the batteries themselves) so I assume I need to check regulated voltage after the regulator to see what the servos are getting (charge jacks are before the regulator?) but where and how? Maybe at one of the servo connections on the expander?
3. When I jump the voltage adjuster on the regulator I see no change at the charge jack...again I assume because I need to do that after the regulator?

All in all a nice system that I know I'll like after I get educated!

Thanks!!!!!!!

your set up sounds good. 7.4 V li-pos will go bad if they are lower than 6.2 . You only need to check before the reg. i wont fly lower than 7.5 V just to be safe.

hope this helps

The voltage at the charge jack is unregulated battery vaoltage. You can check the voltage of the regulator by reading it directly from the regulator output, from the receiver (if it's NOT hooked up to the Power Expander), or from the Power Expander servo outputs. The Hobbico DVM is okay for checking voltage, but will not put much of a load on the battery to check it's true charge condition.

Fromeco states in the instructions for the batteries to check them under a 1 amp load and DO NOT fly if you get a reading of 7.0 or less under a 1 amp load.

BTW the Fromeco 8 ball checker is a great product. I highly recommend it.

Ditto on Andy.

It also checks at 1.5 amps and resting. And can give you an accurate reading on Nicad/Nimh

And does not require its own battery
