I'm having a problem with a power expander sport. It does not send a signal to the servos. I have it hooked up to 2 LIon's regulated to 6v. I have a JR 10 ch receiver that powers up from the power expander, and I can measure power on the servo +/- bus, but there is no action from any servo on any channel. The servos and receiver work fine by themselves. Anybody got any ideas? Dennis |

I bet I know your problem,, take plug your batteries into channels ONLY,, 1-8 do not plug a battery into the Battery port on the receiver,, if you don't have any spare channels on the receiver,, take and Y a battery into the throttle channel on the receiver and then Y the other battery into the gear channel or something,, but the key is ,as strange as it sounds do not plug either of the two batteries into the battery port on the receiver,, ,,

If you have any of the receiver pigtails from the PowerExpander plugged into the battery port on the receiver take it out. You should only plug the PowerExpander receiver connections into the servo ports. The power leads are also channels "A" and "H". The battery port on your receiver should be open. Let me know if you are still having problems after this.

I don't think you ever need a "Y". I always recommend the two power channels, "A" and "H" get plugged into the first and last channels on a receiver. On a JR receiver this would be throttle and the last "AUX" channel. Then plug in the single wire pigtails in order after the throttle channel and if you have any left over leave them disconnected. For a Futaba receiver you would plug into ailerons and the last aux channel and then start at ailerons and plug in the single leads.

I was just saying if you run out of channels you will either have to Y them in or buy a bigger receiver, ,but glad everything is fixed for you dhawks,

Can the power channels be plugged in to AUX 4 and AUX 5? Just seems like power is power regardless of what ports the power is plugged in to. Thanks. Waggs

Hi Waggs, The power leads also tap a servo channel, they are multi-purpose. The reason I suggest connecting to Throttle and Aux5 on a JR receiver is that the power leads are on each end of the servo connection block (A and H) and this keeps all the PowerExpander channels connected in order and its much easier to remember where your servos are hooked in. If you were to put the power channels on Aux4 and Aux5 you would no longer have things in order. |

Orderliness is good! I guess I'm trying to avoid having to mix throttle with an AUX channel to "reassign" throttle functionality, if for no other reason than simplicity sake in my mind. Thanks. Waggs. |

Hi Waggs, Why would you have to do that? All I am saying is to plug the connections A-H from the PowerExpander into the channels on the receiver they line up with. For JR receivers, throttle is the first one, for Futaba receivers ailerons is the first one. You should never have to reassign any transmitter function. |
