Help! Please Confirm My Optical Kill Setup is Correct

I just bought my first gasser, a DA-50 powered Airwild Extra 260. The current set-up doesn't have an ignition kill so I am adding one.

I bought the Smart-Fly Optical Kill last night.

I've read the How To Article on Rc Universe linked from the product info page, as well as the manual you can get on the Smart-Fly web site in the Instructions section.

However, I just want to double check my planned setup because neither the How To or the Manual specifically deals with what happens when you are Regulating the battery. The instructions are simply:

"It must go between the ignition on/off switch and the ignition module."

Here is the planned setup:

2600 Lion Battery > Switch > Regulator > SMARTFLY OPTICAL KILL > Ignition

Does that look right?

Just want to make sure the Kill should come after the Regulator and before the Ignition and not after the switch and before the Regulator.

Thanks for your patience. I am newbie and this this is my first Optical Kill and gas engine and only my second entry into the world of Lion and Regulators.

Just remember if you set your failsafes to last known position......Ensure the Optical Kill is setup correctly before you set that. Otherwise it will kill your motor

Hi,
It actually can go either way, it really makes no difference. These can handle the 8.4 volts of the lithium packs and can be used on the 3W ignitions that take 8.4V.
