Default Re: JR R922 with EQ6? help

So, plugging a battery pack into the servo port on the 922 will damage it?

I tried to power my R922 from a servo port while setting it up and it would not work. It has to be powered from the power leads.

Here is a summary of this thread: don't use the 922 and EQ6 together because it is redundant, messy, and somewhat of a PITA. Either keep the 922 and use the EQ6 for another project, or keep the EQ6, buy a 921 and use the 922 for another project.

To hookup a JR922 or 1222 or Spektrum 9100 you have to do the following. First, on the two end receiver plugs coming off the Smart-Fly system you have to remove the signal wire (white) and put it on its own JR male. This means the two end connections will have two JR males, one with power (red/black) and one with signal (white). You then need to solder a female JR or Futaba connector onto the receiver power wires (16ga wires). You then plug the receiver power into the power coming off the Smart-Fly system. The single white leads go into the receiver servo ports. DO NOT power these units through the servo ports. This will reverse bias some circuits in the receivers and can cause problems or failures. If you are not clear on this proceedure please call us.
thanks Richie, thats around the lines I was assuming it would have to be, basically signal only between EQ6 channels and RX servo ports, and power from EQ6 to RX via 16ga wires...sounds like a plan

Make sure you get the 5V power from the receiver connector, not from the servo outputs. I have a dozen or so 922/1222/9100s done this way and it works fine. Let me know if you have any questions.
