JR R922 with EQ6? help

am looking to use EQ6 with an JR R922 rx, this R922 has the 16AWG battery input leads with EC3 connectors. I am not sure if this RX can be powered from servo connectors.....does anyone have any idea or used this RX with an EQ6?

forgot to add this RX can support up to 10v, so in theory I should be able to plug between the Fromecos and the EQ6 if I switch the connectors on the RX to deans??

Why would you use a R922 with a EQ6? Isn't the point of the R922 so you can avoid a separate power system? Might be better to consider the R921 with a EQ6. You do need to power the R922 through the power leads.

i already have the R922 thou, plus it has 4 remote receivers, the R921 only 2 plus the onboard one. and I would still need the power system for the servo voltage right?

The EQ6 should work fine. Just change the receiver power inputs from the EQ6 to EC3 connectors. Since you will be powering your servos through the EQ6 you won't be pulling much current through the receiver, so the smaller leads coming from the EQ6 will be fine.

NOOOOOOOO!! The servo buss on the 922 can handle over 30 amps. Absolutely, positively no reason whatsoever to run a separate power system with the 922. If you want to run your power system, get a regular receiver - it is your only option unless you want a mickey mouse setup.

I understand that bodywerks, but I already have this equipment, I rather not try to sell and buy something almost the same....if it will technically work with reliability I much rather use it....

Dubd, I am not sure if I should power the RX thru the servo ports from the EQ6 with safety?...I was thinking just to change the EC3 to Deans and plug directly to the fromecos, just like the EQ6 is, with a Y-deans setup?

It would be best to supply the power the the R922 EC3 leads through the EQ6 Receiver power leads since the EQ6 is already regulated and has it's own battery share. The R922 has it's own battery share and I am not sure how 2 separate systems pulling from the batteries with their own battery shares would affect battery usage. I have a R922 using Spektrum regulators on each power input and since one regulator may regulate the voltage higher than the other, it always drains one battery quicker than the other. I believe it even states this in the R922 manual.

AFAIK, you will need to power your R922 through the battery leads and the rx WILL NOT work unless powered that way. Perhaps I am wrong, but that is what I was told. I do not think these two products were designed to work together. The best thing to do is use your EQ6 in another project or sell it/return to Smart-Fly.

Then don't use the EQ6 - you don't need it with the 922.
To make it work you would have to have dual leads on each battery - one for the rx and one for the EQ6. And you'd have to have a switch for the 922 and a switch for the EQ6. That's it. But I still say it's a waste.

Yes. You cannot power the R922 throught the servo ports. Just convert the JR leads to EC3. It should work fine.

Hi,
To hookup a JR922 or 1222 or Spektrum 9100 you have to do the following. First, on the two end receiver plugs coming off the Smart-Fly system you have to remove the signal wire (white) and put it on its own JR male. This means the two end connections will have two JR males, one with power (red/black) and one with signal (white). You then need to solder a female JR or Futaba connector onto the receiver power wires (16ga wires). You then plug the receiver power into the power coming off the Smart-Fly system. The single white leads go into the receiver servo ports. DO NOT power these units through the servo ports. This will reverse bias some circuits in the receivers and can cause problems or failures.
