| Hey guys sorry to clutter the list with this, but we thought that it was fairly important. We have a service announcement for the Kodiak. It can also be found on the Kodiak Product page on the web site. Also ever customer that has purchased a Kodiak was personally sent this announcement. Sorry for the inconvenience, and as always thanks for your patients! Kurt Cook Fromeco Scale Avionics LLC For Kodiaks sold from: 01/01/08 ~ 03/16/08 Kodiak Service Bulletin: It has been discovered that in our build process of the Kodiak mAh counter switch, we are inadvertently flowing a small amount of Flux down the Female Deans metal contact tabs. Flux is a cleaning substance used in soldering to both help clean metal parts being soldered that in turn helps solder flow. Unfortunately Flux is terribly non-conductive. Symptoms: When a device is plugged in to the Female connector, wiggling or jostling the Deans connector can cause an intermittent connection. Remedy: Fromeco is asking all its customers who have purchased Kodiak to unplug their input and out put connections and scrub the contacts with IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol)(Rubbing Alcohol), Napa Brake & Electric Motor Cleaner also works well. A pipe cleaner that has been folded over has been reported to work very well. We have found that small medical Qtips with wood handles also work very well. When cleaning we suggest you wipe the contacts until you can hear them squeak, at which point we recommend you re-wet your cleaning device and give it one more go. It is very, very important to get the full length of the metal contact clean. Once the contacts are clean, intermittent contact will not be a problem. Please plug back in your battery and devices connected to the Kodiak and do an operations check, with power ON wiggle the deans and make sure that power stays uninterrupted. If you do find that you had a power glitch, retrace the steps above. NOTE: This Flux problem is a Fromeco assembly issue. We have since changed our process of assembly. This is not an issue with how the Kodiak Switch operates. Contact Us: If you have any further Questions please contact Fromeco Scale Avionics LLC 503.715.0020 Mon. Wed.
