Default Fromeco TNC Tachometer question

I am new to RC and thus I need to be sure of this before I purchase the TNC tach. It seemed like the perfect unit for what I need from the reviews.

My question is that does this unit require reflective tape in order to work? I searched many tachs and all of them seemed to require it.

I hope that this unit will not require the reflective tape but I just do not know for sure at this moment.

My TNC tach works very well if you angle the plane/prop slightly toward the sun. Late in the afternoon with the plane/prop almost 180 degrees fro the sun also works well.

The TNC tack is very precise for both a 2- and 3-blade prop. You will see that your rpm jumps around quite a bit so don't be surprised.

Hi

you do not need to attach a small square of reflective tape to the blade to make the reading. Is this correct?

It measures the light bursts between the prop blades so no you don't. BTW if you want to see if it's reading properly turn on a light bulb in the house and point it at it. It should read 3600 on the two-blade setting.

Good to know about no need for the reflective tape.

thank you for the light suggestion. Since I am testing outside, would a flash light do the same? or is it based on the 60 Hz frequency of the AC signal?
