no thats cheating... 5.0kg is the all up weight for an F3A Machine (excluding Fuel) there is a bit of debate about electric models - whether or not the flight pack is considered fuel... but not many people in NZ are flying Electric (let alone electric F3A) so as far as I am aware that isn't a concern at this stage. The weight limit only restricts the top level of Pattern Aerobatics, if you are just starting out I would say you have a good two or three years competition flying before you are up to the standard of F3A, So I wouldn't worry about your 260 being over the 5kg mark. If you decide Pattern is the way you would like to go in the future I would imagine you would be getting yourself a purpose built Pattern model. The next round of Pattern in the North Island is December 1st in Hamilton (Waikato Champs) followed by the Nats over new years. The next round in the South Island is December 15th at the Freestyle Aerobatics Expo in Dunedin. All I need to say about Piper Cubs is if you fly one you wouldn't be reading this forum! |

One day Patrick I'm going to knock up a big yellow foam cub, put a massive donk in it and hover it around the paddock just for the entertainment value. Later we can all take shots at it with large caliber weapons. I'm willing to go halves in accom with someone - $24 each gets a cabin at the top 10 holiday park for two. This comp can also double as tryouts for the South Island boat race team. Sarge |

Hey Sarge, I think Coaster (Peter) and a bunch of the Chch guys are staying at some shearing quaters about half an hour from the field for next to nothing (maybe a couple of beers) also we may be able to organise some of the local club members to offer a spare bedroom or model room floor for a night or two? If you don't have any luck going halves with someone in a cabin let me know and I'll see what I can sort out. Also - see if you can get anyone else down your way to make the trip up... at last count it looks like we are going to have between $1,500 - $2,000 worth of prizes up for grabs! An email will be sent out in a few days listing the prizes. Remember that we will probably be having a big night on the saturday so you don't want to be too far away from the action! get your foamy's ready now! I just finisked installing a light kit on my frakar! |

Its a prize draw... We might put aside a couple of the prizes as 1st place prizes for Pattern on the day but the idea is to reward participation, because without people turning up to these events we wouldn't have a competition. |

Hi guys, at last count we had 13 entries - 5 in sportsman, 6 in advanced and 2 F3A. There are still a few people who haven't registered yet that I know were planning on attending. Remember that if you pre register before the day you get an extra entry into the prize draw which means you have an extra chance of winning one of the great prizes. It looks like we will have a pretty close compettition in both Sportsman and Advanced, I don't think I can pick the top three in advanced so that will be an interesting one to watch! Keep the entries coming, also a reminder to the Local guys to register also... at the moment 10 of the entries we have are from either christchurch, Gore or Invercargill, I'm sure a number of local guys will just turn up on the day but it makes our job easier if we can sort out the flight orders / judges etc. before the competition day. |
