| Gettin' Lower! ![]() | No summer in NZ .... nice one Stu .... mate you are from Melbourne ! .... have you ever been to NZ ? This year the weather here has been stonking since middle of November, and will be great till at least May. Its our best summer on record for 10 years. Yes, from May to October, yes it can be a little dicey, but cause we are a small rock, any **** weather goes through in a couple of days, and we can fly all year round. Stu .... Come in Kettle, this is Pot, over..... are you black ? Every time I have been to the Australian State of Victoria, I have frozen my tits off, been sand blasted in the face by 40 knot winds, spat flys out like melon pips, and always seen rain .... you guys might be having a drought, but I think its a crock, the place is wetter than an otters pocket ! Biting my lip about the ozzy beer ! Ok, back on the topic .... Brian, if you like driving a campervan, you can cruise the whole of NZ in 3 to 4 weeks. Start at the top, and work you way down. This is what most tourists do. You get different scenery every 100 miles. Check this out, the country had a contest to vote on the best stuff to see and do. http://www.aatravel.co.nz/101-must-dos-for-kiwis/ From Jan through to April is the best time of year. There are modelling events of all types all over the country, and there's something on every weekend. Here is the website for our National Association, and there is an online Calendar you can check out. www.nzmaa.org.nz Cher Bogan |

| All I need is more talent ![]() ![]() | [quote=maac16324;380666]Thanks guys ... this is just the information I need to get on with some trip planning for next Summer in NZ. Please keep any information coming. I'll spend some time online checking out Christchurch and Hamilton. Any suggestions on long term accomodation would also be appreciated. Three months at hotel rates would be a little steep. Hi Brian If you want accomodation, send me a pm. I live in Tauranga (The Gold Coast of New Zealand) and have a fully self contained apartment available at a reasonable rate 5 min walk to Frazer Briggs fathers place with another keen modeler in the same street and only 40 mins drive to one of the best flying sites in New Zealand. The only downside is that Frazer Briggs lives within an hours drive and will probably drag us out flying. PM me if you want more info. BTW, we won't make you drink any Aussie beer as we don't make friends drink stuff we would never touch. Cheers Alan

up in "Locals only pub" , man they are some big blokes . I suppose its a bit rough having a go at NZ weather but I didnt tell Brian to come to Melbourne or Bendigo for that matter . Now Brian theres one thing to remember ,there are NO snakes in NZ just KIWI's Stu

| Flyin' Around ![]() | Mr. L .... mode 2 Stu ... I'm really not to worried about the snakes. At my field a person stands a better chance of meeting their maker if they overfly the pits. One thing is for sure though ... I'll be going way South to summer next winter if that makes any sense. Thanks all for the good words. Brian Weekley Victoria, BC |

| Gettin' Lower! ![]() | Way south sounds like the small ice cube south of NZ. The Globemasters have been flying over our house frequently the past week. Hmmmmm so you are cack handed...... I am sure something can be sorted, even if we hold a bottle of fuel infront of ya |

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | Mith, As you know, I currently live in San Diego. probably the best weather in the U.S.. I spent many years in Kenya as a young man. I think the area around Nairobi it is the only place I have been that has better weather than San Diego. It is high, about 6,000 feet, so you would need to build your models light to get proper performance. Where are you moving to? |
