Default Re: Your Favorite 3d EPP model?

Hey Alex,

i dont mind about the servos, just do what ever is easiest. I have some Hitec HS-65hb's, and those 5 gram Hextroinic's you gave me for the bat lying around. i can either give you those or repay you with those, or give you the cash - i dont mind.

thanks for that.

I have an array of servos here and I will use the best ones for the best jobs IMO. Just repay me back with the ones you have which coincide or cash for the ones that don't. All servos will be new.

You still fixed on the idea of a full moving tailplane?

I am not fixed on the fully moving tailplane - i have just never had a model with one, so i will give it a go at some stage. You have much more experience with these, so just do what ever you think is best. i am pretty keen to see just what you come up with. I have flown a few of your models and i am pretty jealous - they fly great!

cheers matie.

I find overall that a full moving tailplane does some pretty cool tricks but gets annoying and prohibits some outdoor flying, also a pain to set up solid enough. I think something like the Addiction tailplane would be good.

Hey guys,

Here is what alex came up with - and i love it!

all 10mm epp construction, built-up fuse, which keeps all the gear safe and sound (and more importantly for me - out of sight) hatch on the bottom allows for maintenance.

HXT900 servos all round, i love these servos- they are quick, quite precise, and cheep - if you smash the gears, fork out 5 bucks and stick another one in! perfect for this style of plane, about 55 degree throws all round.

hyperion 2209, 10amp controller, berg 4L rx. thunderpower 910 3s.

hovers at 2/3 throttle with a 9 inch prop with good spool-up. or about half throttle with a 10 inch prop with slow spool-up. i prefer the 9x4.7 at about 100-110 watts its not too hard on the power system.

dont know the weight, but it is probably about 300grams.

flys great! hovers awesome, patterns reasonably well for a small foamy, will handle some wind with ease. does some very cool tricks, snap and spins are fast as. sould indoor pretty good as well as it is quite solid flying slowly.

Things i should improve: i should move the battery to above the wing for better lateral balance (currently knife edge pulls towards the wheels, moving the batt will help) also should make the current 'Taylor-540' slyle landing gear a bit longer for better ROG, but i usually biff and catch it anyway.

this thing is soild as! bounces real good and takes tree landings in its stride. as you can tell i love this thing, and everyone whos has seen it fly reckons it the ducks-nuts (that good by the way)

Flew good for the short flight I had of it, would love to have a fly of it outside after you move that battery

CST katana does look good but, more snappy than my sniper 3d. With only 2 flights on the katana and windy today it seems to hoover well.
