this another good explanation - The reason we use two-blade props is efficiency! In fact, a one-blade prop would be better than a two-blade. Because prop blades operate in the wash of the blade ahead of them in the arc, the more blades you have, the closer they are to one another and the less efficient they are at turning torque and rpm into thrust.

hey 50%er put a screw on the broken side and balance it and give it a go. tells us how it works.. by the way i have seen this done.. i didnt beleive it until i saw it...but it was on a foamy

Though it is counter balanced, think of the oscilation from drag and thrust pulling the shaft out of whack.... as opposed to having two or three blades equally thrusting forward on the motor shaft... think about that. There is more to it than just counterbalancing.
