But it doesn't matter because IMAC planes are flying mostly vertical so thrust is king, not airspeed - it's flying on it's prop (not so much on its wing).

Mr. Anderson, what you've just written is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever read. At no point in your rambling, incoherent post were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone on this forum is now dumber for having read it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Nice prop but the thing barks loud.
3MM 53. I've got a 22x8 on it and it's a good prop for breaking in and hauls my Sukhoi around pretty well. I tached it on the first flight at 6900 with a 22x10, now that I leaned it out it should do around 7200 I' hoping. I'll let you know when I get it.

I think this may in fact be "just a bit" too harsh.
I, (along with others) am simply using this thread as a sort of "mind exercise".
I was dumber before I read this, and now after reading this, it has forced me to begin to think how on earth it is either correct or incorrect. thanks (Mike) for making me think for myself to try to rationalize what you have written.. ..even though I cant logically believe it.....

I also have a 23B waiting to go onto my WH Extra300 with the 3MM53. The 23A seemed ok, but didn't seem to work as well as the 23/8 bunny. upon further research, and taking to one of the guys at DA that I buy my props from, (Vess) he indicated that the 23 "A" was more like a 23/7-7.5... so there you go.
This engine/plane combo should fly just SWEET with this combo...
Also, on my particular setup, I flipped the carb, did the pressure tube mod, fabricated a 1/4" riser, and installed a velocity stack. Then I made a scoop on the cowl to direct air into the carb/stack out of an old wheel pant, and this (for me) is a pretty hot setup. I have no idea if it is actually acting like a "ram air" type setup, I just know it works now. I was having a sort of low pressure problem inside the cowl...

The die hard "name brand" guys at the field were kind of skeptical of this engine at first, but now they all seem to have changed their tune!!

The quote was a pop culture reference. However, it does remain accurate when describing the idea that IMAC planes are mostly flying vertical and therefore don't fly on their wing much. Time to lay off the blow.

How fast will it go backwards if a 23 x 8 pusher prop is used ?

Thanks
Albert

23A was my first choice but something told me to go inbetween.

The prop unloads at flying speed - the engine is turning more than 7K in the air. I still prefer a 22X8, though.
