Why don't you just have someone hurl on the plane?

well said matt, im sure im not the only one hoping your plane keeps its cool looks.. tho the spalts are hard to beat. hha i think from an entertainers stand point the plane should be easy to tell what its doing... big differance from top and bottom, the splat cap gets a 10/10 on that one hahah.. how ever not to make it so wild that it is just strange... take mike mangold edge for example, al tho i would love to have a model that looks like this hhehe

The thing with Patty is everything she has built, become and is know for is gone. Thats too bad IMHO... however, sometimes a complete make over is needed. In her case, i don;t think so... And yes..the black is going to be a terrible color to photograph...and I hate to think of flying that design on an RC plane..
I know that some of you out there won;t like what we have done with the CAP, but remember, a lot of people didn;t like it when we did the splat scheme either. Ithas grown on some, and remained hated by others... and thats all good. It;s what make the flying field fun and ineresting to go to.
The "new" CAP paint is only for this season until we get to design and paint the new paint over the winter. For what we had to work with, I think we did a nice job.
Will the "bullseye" be missed????????????? who knows.
But as one of the posts said, the paint may change, but it is the same pilot, doing the same cool stuff for the same great fans that take the time and pay the $$ to come and support us.
I can't speak for the rest of them, But I really appriciate all the support and friendships I have gained from this great sport and hobby!
The CAP is out of the paint shop Friday.... vinyl next week.... fingers crossed.
Stay warm...
MC
I was wondering - do you scrape the old paint ? It would seem that another coat would be a pretty huge weight gain. On the other hand - how do you get paint off of a fabric covering ??

I'd like to know some full scale details...

I helped out with a J-3 Cub last year....... The paint comes off with tons and tons of wet sanding. Metal parts and fiberglass parts were changed out or glass bead blasted. Some fabric had to be removed and re-stitched. When someone decides to make a paint scheme change, it's a well-thought out process. In our case, the Cub WAS yellow and STAYED yellow. I had seen some pics of Matt Chapman's teal/white paint scheme being changed to the current splat. My personal preference: I liked the old scheme. Same way with Patti's plane...... I liked the old over the new.

Regardless its the sponsor who foots the bill and I suspect they make the call on what goes. Despite the color scheme she's still gonna rock the crowd when she puts on a show and 99% of the people in crowd wont give a damn about the paint job as they stand slack jawed watching her turn things inside out.

However I know the insides of those things is hot enough as it is but shes's going cook inside that thing on a hot day while on the ground.

BUTT UGLY.

Too bad, she deserves a scheme to wow them, not make them wretch.

How popular do you think an ARF would do with that scheme?? Especially next to her old one. The telling will be in how many plane makers do their birds in it, and how fast/slow they move. Watch for blowout sales in 2 years.

I spoke with one of the biggest ARF kit importers a few days ago regarding this scheme and I took it that its not likely t be hot package for any of the ARF suppliers to try and copy that scheme.

Black in RC is a death wish anyway.
