The Extra 330 is a modified 300 by Phil Knight. The Rudder is enlarged and the elevator is aero dynamically balanced along with a 330hp engine.

You are exactally right.

and for those who think that the 330 was a real plane and all that jazz go look in the faa regestration web site and see if you find extra 330. cuz even if Phile Knight has a 330hp engine in it its still regestred as and extra 300 if im not mistaken

It was, the plane sat 3 doors down from me here @ tailwinds for years, the cowl even says 300s, my dad said it was the people that wrote programs for his events that gave the plane a different designation to make it seem more HP and eventually the name stuck.

But its really not a "330" its a modifed 300s and now people call it a "330" but its really just an origanl 300s modified
