Someone at my semi-local (30miles or so) hobby shop is building 1/3 scale cub with those big fat bush tires on it, believe he had to have them custom made. Beautiful plane to see in person, just about every scale detail is there. http://www.planorc.com/asp/modules/a...iew&subid=4572

Some pics of it there.

Pretty wild to see a full size get off the ground in it's own length.

That would be correct. It is the Carbon Cub. It is a proof of concept design that Cubcrafters is developing. 30 lbs. less than their Top Cub, with a 220 hp engine in it. Oh yeah...take-off roll in that video: get this...19 ft. Really.

It's much farther along than the pics on the site show. They have the wings on it now (12' span) and signs in all directions saying "Don't touch" hehe I would be afraid to fly it after all the time that has gone into it. The wings look like they are cloth/dope covered. They went all out to make it look like a real bush plane. (I read on the site that I linked that the tires are custom, single ply tail wheels from a real one) Gotta be determined to go that far

Well if you can get more I'd sure like to see them. Awhile back, my old man built a 1/3 scale, man it was a beaut! He used fabric for the covering, even used that ribbed medical tape (the stuff that's serrated on each side) under each rib on the wings, to simulate the way the real one looked. Super sharp, wish I had pics to show...unfortunately he sold it shortly after first flight and we watched the buyer a few weeks later fold the wings on it

I'll take a camera with me the next time I head over there for some heli parts. They have a scale A-10 in there that I would love to have too. It's quite a bit bigger than the cub, Would have to win the lottery to afford that beast though hehe. You could almost stick your head in the engine nacels.

I just picked up the Lanier Husky.

Getting the Du-Bro 6" smooth air filled tires for it.

It will be electric.

I'll post a build thread as it nears completion.
