You have to open http://s3.amazonaws.com/fossett/geo-eye.kml to view the latest images. The images you are viewing now are the standard google earth images and are old. The new, black and white images, just became available today.

Steve is an amazing man. I had the opportunity to meet him 7 years ago when he purchased an Extra 300L from Aero Sport in FL. It was my first cross country trip in the Extra delivering it to KEGE, Eagle, Colorado. We eventually brought it down to Vegas and finished checking him out in the airplane.
Mean time he arrived in his Citation X into Boulder City, where he set yet another 1000km closed course record from Needles, CA to Tucumcari, NM holding Mach .92 the entire way at FL370 in 599mph. He had a member of the FAI on board to observe the record. It was really amazing.
I met him again at Barron's Flying M Ranch a couple of years ago for the Baron Hilton Cup. I can assure that Barron keeps all of those airplanes in prestine order. We did the MX on his Extra in Boulder City for many years.
My thoughts and prayers are with him at this time. He is a great pilot and a true Aviator. As many have said, I'm sure he is waiting for the cavalry to show.
Good Luck and God Bless,
Mark Leseberg

That report is only partly true. The Civil Air Patrol and local authorities have discontinued their search (budget reasons, probably). However, all of the people associated with Steve's teams, the Flying M Ranch and many volunteers are all continuing the search. They won't give up on him.

Check back to Steve's website for updates: www.stevefossett.com
