The CTSW's? More than a viper (over $100K new), and ALOT more than a challenger II (Less than $30k)

I'm eventually getting one. Still looking. I've had quite a few lessons, and can take off/fly/land a normal aircraft (piper tomahawk). I was really looking at the Quicksilver Sprint. It seems to fit the bill perfectly. Basically I want to fly, but laws say you have to be 16 to solo, 17 to have a liscense. But there is no liscense required for an ultralight. Thats what draws me to them. I'm not going to go up in-experienced, I'll get training and what not, but I think it'd just be cool.

A buddy has flown his Challenger II in on my property now... I think I want one for morning and PM cruises.... and I want a 2 place. I wonder if I have to get that silly LSA license to own and fly it legally on my property? I know it qualifies.. but do I have to register it as one?

Yes!! Passenger or not if it does not meet the requirements of CFR part 103 you need a license to fly it legally. If it is already built and not registered you will have an expensive piece of junk. Tom

Several I have looked at and flown in are most definately N numbered... Sadly, I could buy a faily nice 5000 hour TTA 150 which my wife and I could actually go on a 1-2 hour trip in up to the inlaws and back for the price of a nice C II. I am not sure if a 150 could ROG in 1400 of strip though.... There are 0 obstructions at one end... other than a 4 foot fence..

If you are worried about getting a sport pilot license to fly a Challenger then why are you considering a 150?

That's not it. Sorry, I was misleading. It's not the license. It's the fact that I could buy a 150 for what a Challenger cost. The 150 will go up in value, the CII wont. The C-150 might not be the right size plane for my yard. The CII will be perfect for my yard. The C II is not able to take a 1.5 hour flight with a hand bag to the inlaws airport (2 miles from them). The C-150 could easily be a reliable 1.5 hour trip taker... see my delima?
