I'm not sure how many replies on this i'll get , but i wanted to ask here anyways. as far as flying an acrobatic type aircraft , and you REALLY wanted to throw down some some serious moves such as harrier rolls , knife edge passes , loops , rools , you name it..........what aircraft do you see as the most aggressive? Which one will flop around with the best of them? I know in the red bull air race stuff they seem to be flying the Extra 300's , edge 540's , MX2's and so forth , but they aren't doing areboatics with them. Are the Sukhois SU-26's and 31's still considerd an aggressive acrobatic aircraft? |

Edge 540's,, most are all composite, light and can pull +- 11 g's.,,,

su-26 I think is probably the best monowing aerobatic aircraft out there. Tons of guys are still flying them. the edge's extra's amd MX's are all about the same honestly. The EDGE is a steel frame fabric covered with a composite wing. EXTRA's are mostly composite construction. MX's are all composite but they are twitchy.. still need to be refined a bit. If you are looking for the most AGGRESSIVE, the modified PITTS aircraft that guys like Sean tucker and Skip Stewart are flying are the way to go. Take a stock S1 or S2S and swap out the wings for one of the newer designs, change the rudder and elevators out for larger more modern surfaces, yank out every single piece of unnessacery weight you can, mount an IO540 on the front, and put some more aero cowling on that bad boy and you have th emoste extreme aerobatic machine money cant buy, ![]() |

From what I've heard, Caps and Edges. Maybe Matt will see this and chime in here.

Awesome replies guys and thank you! I had been watching some videos of jurgis kaiyrs and he is simply amazing.....looks like an RC airplane with some of his moves. this video in paticular raised the hair on the back of my neck >> he whips it inverted and a super low pass right under a small bridge..HAHA!! Awesome! also....the reason i asked this was because at looking at a lot of videos and seeing a few airshows the Sukhoi just looks like it floats so well. I wasn't really sure how the Edge's and extra's stacked up against something like the sukhoi. Tucker's pitts.....yeah it's amazing! I've seen him fly in person a few times , and he's really cool to watch. I'm more into the Mono wing aircraft though.

The late Jim LeRoy's Bulldog 2 was the hardest flying combination I've seen. Nowadays the most intense seems to be Gary Ward and Paul Lopez, both in MX2's. http://www.mxaircraft.com/ has links to their sites and various videos. I particularly like the wall to waterfall they do.

I have to say the Bulldog II did things in an aggressive manor like I have never seen anyone else do,but that had a lot to do with the man on the stick!!!Jim LeRoy. |

Jugis in the Sukhoi is the MAN. Search for video of Jurgis at the Aero Grand Prix at Motegi in Japan. Great stuff.
