What happens if you take the resistor out? What about adding a 10W 1ohm resistor?

I took out the resistor and got the same reading. I do not have a 10W 1 ohm resistor. I can make a trip to RS tomorrow if you think it might help.

the resistor buss - i built it as per page one and measured the voltage and got only 9.5v so i look everything over to see if all was per spec and it was - so I just removed the resistor and up went the voltage to 12.5 and it starts no problem

I relized that there was 2 black wires togeather in the one of the slots in the 20 pin plug I cut off. I put the 2 blacks back togeather and I wet from 10.2 up to 12.2 volts. with (1) 10w 10 ohm resistor I get 12.3 with (2) 10w 10 ohm resistors I get 12.5. Is it ok to leave both 10w 10 ohm resistors on.

I tried (2) 10w 1 ohm resistors and they got so hot they started to smoke.... I assumed this was not good and shut things off and removed them.

yeah leave them - just make sure they are isolated as even they get hot

Same experience with my resistors Sundancer. My pose on the previous page details what I experienced. In the end I when with the two resistors soldered to each other, even though this didn't increase the voltage any above one resistor, it did help with the excess heat of the resistors. With all my Polycharge4 and Cellpro4 both connected to it, with 5 830-1345mah 3cell packs charging it drops to 12.22v at a minimum.

I'm such an idiot that I built and finished a power supply from an old junky Computer
that i had laying around, and i didnt even realize until it was finished that it was only a 200w unit that only threw out 6AMPS....what a waste of time!
Ok, Ok...I'll just try to find one that has a few more balls and start all over

I bought one kinda like this one, had it shipped to Mike and he performed the operation and shipped it to me. It is mounted in my trailer, its good for 30 amps. It powers my Fromeco, Accucycle Elite, and a small audio amplifier hooked to the iPod for some tunes at the field.

Works great!!!! Thanks Mike

I got my hands on an older ATX 300amp power supply and i went to town...
i did everything that was described by Mr Bargman on page 1, and the thing
starts up fine, but as soon as i plug in my charger, she goes dead.
My voltmeter only reads 10.8v from the outputs so there has to be something
wrong. Who knows...I need to just buy a decent power supply and start all over
i guess. Does anyone have a decent power supply laying around that they dont
need?

Thumbs up Re: FrankenPower! Building a 12V Power Supply

Hey Guys, I'm posting my FrankenPower 12V Power Supply on the FG SwapShop.

PM me, post here, reply to the ad...they (MM & Sleepy C, that is...oh, and Mr Mike - himself for figuring this out!) made it easy. The reason I'm selling is because my dad and I made a few of these, and I do not need the extra one. I did it the way Mike tells it.

Just asking $75, not a bad deal considering it ready to supply your charger with clean 12V. Power cord is included.
