| Hey Everyone, this plane has been out for a while. and has been setup as electric. I have converted a quite a few .60 planes this was my step in to a small giant scale plane. Im going to go over the electric setup that I used. and skip the ARF built. there are a lot of threads on the air frame build. here is the setup that I used: E-Flite power 160 motor Castle Creations 110HV ESC Spektrum DX7 TX Spektrum AR7000 RX JR 2600 mHa 6.v RX batt. 4 JR DS8411 servos 1 JR DS8611 servo Rudder. 3.25 tru turn spinner lite back plate 22'x10' XAOR prop |

| mounting the motor was very easy. I lined up the X motor mount so that it was centered with the cross lines on the firewall. I drilled four 1/4" holes for the 8-32 blind nuts. I used 4"1/2 8-32 treaded rod with nylon standoffs (3/8 od spacers fit in 1/2" od aluminum tubing) I have used this setup on all of my planes and it is a solid setup. Also Hangar 9 has already setup thrust angle in the firewall. I used a 1" piece of aluminum mounted from the firewall to the bulkhead to mount the ESC. (I use Velcro and cable ties to secure the ESC to the aluminum) |

The Battery Tray was very easy. I removed the fuel tank support. and guled in a cross brace and a pice of lite balsa plywood. I use anti skid cloth on the ply to keep the batterys from sliding and Velcro strap to hold them in place. I made up a three way deans conector in series to hook up the 2 Batterys (1 deans conector is to complete the circuit after the batterys are conected) Batterys are 2 MaxAmp 4000mHa 5s (Awsome power great customer service) |

now to keep everything cool. I cut two 1/2" holes on each side of the motor box and four 3/8" holes in the firewall. I cut a 4"x4" triangle in the bottom of the cowl. and a 8" long vent in the fus. buy the rear former (you need to access the former to cut out for the pull pull wires*see other posts*) |

all in with batterys installed the plane weighs 13.2 lb. CG is 5in back from LE. I mounted the RX Battery on the motor mount and added 5oz. of weight to the nose to get CG in.(see pictures above) I tested a bunch of props and the Xoar 22"x10 gave me a 2700 watts @ 78amps burst. motor / ESC get warm not hot. I get a 8 minute flight using +/- 2000mHa of power I have over 10 flights on this setup. the power is awsome take offs are in 30' @ 3/4 throttle. uplines are unlimited. I find myself fling at about 1/2 throttle most time loops and knife edges need very little thottle input. I would suggest this plane and setup for a reasonble price large scale electric setup. if anyone has questions or coments please feel free. |

here is some pictures of how I hold the canopy down. I use a 7 1/4" x 1/16" CF rod. I mounted a tube on the bottom of the canopy between the screw tabs (see pictures) I slide the rod though the fus. in to the tube and use fuel line to hold it in place. I have used this on all of my planes and works great and make for fast battery access. Last edited by bsipro; 11-12-2007 at 01:21 PM. |
