Well Gang just prior to the Holidays, the brown truck pulled up and dropped off a new addition to the fleet. Let me start-off by telling you.... she is SOO...Sweet! The 3DHS Extra 300 SHP, came Triple-boxed, for additional shipping safety, and arrived in first class shape. The Well- thought-out packaging ensures a safe arrival, as well as the extra boxes, provide that extra insurance from the usual mishandling that occurs in transit.Upon opening the box, one quickly discovers the effort that goes it to these magnificent Airplanes. They are the laser cut, well designed, and extremely lightweight wood aircraft. The covering is impeccable, with zero bubbles, wrinkles, or sags !!. Very impressive ! It's really an assembly of a few hours, as all hardware is included, and the Assembly manual is straight forward. No building here fellas. There are many options for power packages, we chose Vision Hobbies Storm Motors HFSS 5055-580 Motor, and the Storm 100amp ESC; and Poly RC 30C 5S1p 3700 Batt. ( we always go bigger on ESC's, we like the extra protection).Guys, these Poly RC Batts, are just killer, love the fact you can fly them hard, and barely warm at the end of the flights! http://www.visionhobbies.com/ Areas that were a welcome Changes ...An airfoiled tail group, meaning no flat slab stabs..true flying tail. Both surfaces were beveled for 50 degree throws. No appreciable gaps, even though we did hinge seal. Tail wheel is First class, and very functional, and precise. Canopy, is held on with magnets, and a quick release latch-pin.Wings are straight, and extremely light. The model is frankly first class, and doesn't require any modifications at all.The hardware package includes all necessary items, including velcro, and shim/spacers depending on what power package you select. Finally we had a break in the winds here in south Florida, so today was the day.Can you say..SMACKDOWN!!. Man this baby was airborne in about three feet, and climbed vertical with ballistic power with the storm HFSS 5055-580!These Storm motors have tremendous power, with extremely tight specifications during their assembly.(state of the art Bearings,Windings,Magnets) Electric still amazes us every time we fly ; Quiet, Clean, and just low mainteance. We were able to get two flights in, as a cold front pushed thru with some blinding rains. Folks, if you like a "Right-Now-In -Your Face", this bird is for you..It hovers effortlessly, does some of the best High Alpha rollers, and Harriers. We really like the knife edge loops, with very little tucking this models demonstrates. If Blenders, and knife edge spins are your love, this baby will delivery and then some. Guys, we ran out of time because of the approaching storm,(no video yet, but hold on, cause she's a coming) but we can't wait to get her back in the air, and out of the trailer! It was a total rush to fly such a responsive, yet precise flying machine. We also feel that the serious Imac/Precision pattern flyer should have this puppy in his/her car, and use it as a quick practice session, or if you're a 3D animal... then lay it down brother this is the ticket!! Out of time for now, but Stephen and i just can't stop talking about our new found "Monster"... It's a great feeling to go home, With a huge smile, and 100% total satifaction!! Time to get the decals on her, and Tuck her into bed for the Night! ) 3DHS, Ben you and Scott have created monsters... you folks ROCK!!! ![]() Freaking Pumped in Boca Raton!!! ![]() Equipement list: 3DhoobyShop Extra 300SHP 55" Futaba 14MZ FASST, 7 Chan RX 2.4 Futaba 9650 Digital servos HFSS 5055-580 Storm Motor(www.flyhurricane.com) 5S1P 3700 Poly Rc Battery ( VisionHobbies) Storm 100A ESC ( Vision Hobbies) Wire Keepers( http://www.wirekeeps.com/) Xoar Prop 14x9 (3DHS) WingBAgs (3DHS)

Don, Congrats to you and I'm sure Steven on the successful maiden. Did you happen to get any wattmeter readings on your setup? I'd be interested to see what that setup is putting out.Tim |

Guys, I am here to tell you These guys have a winner. I met up with Stephen and Don today to do some IMAC practice in Boca. Upon arrival they showed me this puppy and boy was I surprised as they started telling me about it. It was so hard for me not to ask them for a flight on it, but after a few minutes of talking they offered. So before we left for the day they gave me a shot at it, boy I was totally surprised. I felt like I was inheaven, I have flown several small electrics before and I tell you this one really topped the charts for me. This thing handled every thing I threw at it, it handled so nicely. Rollers, loops, knifeedge, and even some precision IMAC. The setup Don and Stephen have is unbelievable, this thing must have a 4:1 POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO. I am inflating those numbers a bit cause I dont really know what they are, but I do say it has some power. The rollers are blinding fast, I think they might even give Mark Leseberg a run for his money And after all that it landed beautifully, mind you this was the first couple of flights, so like Don said it really is a Right-Now-In-YOUR-Face plane and I would definately recommend this plane to anybody.

Great maiden report, guys! Glad you're enjoying it. We know that the biggest obstacle to people getting into this class fo electrics is the battery cost, and we're doing something about that. We have 5S 3700mah lipos for the 55" Extra (as well as the Yak and Katana) that just arrived, we'll be putting them up for sale on our website this week, for a very nice price. |

Thks Fellas. man this baby is sweet!! Seems that the wing loading is perfect, We're actually going to try a 30C 4S1P pack as well, as i believe this baby will perform very well here as well. Ben, the batt price reduction/pricing is a great idea, i know that Vision is also doing the same thing. This really helps the pilots get started and enjoy the "Electric-Rush". We got a kick out of guys yesterday as we allowed them to drool on the plane, several comments that were so funny ...." Man, these things are light,Man i couldn't build it or cover it for that price... you're kidding me... Hardware package as well?? The kicker was the guys that said, man no wonder that flies so well, however it doesn't look crash proof.... like Duhh!!! Imagine that, like you crash it, and nothing is suppose to happen! I refered them to the special testing BoneDoc has done for us!!! I think those videos prove that the enginnering is there to dispute the average Murphy's Law issue, now pile driving it in, like some of our local field pilots do is another story. Bone Doc you're the man!!! Can your wife speak to mine, and get her to do our videos!! Ben, we're going to need to order up a Velox, imagine our 42% Velox, and the 55" side by side. That would be a HOOT. Scott, and Ben ,you folks have tremendous winners in these planes, the airfoils are exceptional, and now i understand the inherit stability!! Can't wait to get the 87" going, it's going to be a precise killer machine, as the longer fuselage to scale is going to be sweet!! We're on the road for four weekends in a row,(Imac meet,Arizona,National Judging Accrediation, and Imac meet) Guess what's in the trailer, ready to go....3DHS EXTRA 300 .. we keep hearing her .."Let me out Fellas, let's go get some AIR!!!!!

Don Thanks Again for having me up to fly with you guys. I am hoping to have more time to fly with you all, but when school comes calling I have to answer. Thanks for the kind comments on my flying, and the flights were not that good, I still need a lot of practice. Ben is coming down Wednesday night and we are going to try and fly both thursday and friday. I also cannot wait to see the big brother to that extra. I showed it to my father onlline and he said he has been thinkinig about it and now with a flight report from me he is seriously thinking about buying one. Of course after I pay him back for my college tuition. ![]() Later

Congrats Don. You have to love the durability testing on these birds . Not only they fly great, they take most reasonable abuse, and shrug them off . I'll let my wife know that her expertise is greatly appreciated. I'm sure she's going to love that .
