Would a DA50 be too big for this H9 P-40?

Cheers
Chris

got to go out to the field today. it was a bit to windy to madien this, but i did get in a few tanks more of motor brake in. still running on the rich sid ebut now ready to lean out some. this is the smoothest running gas motor i've seen. almost no vibration at all. you cant even tell the motor is running but for the sound. running very very rich i got 1650 r's on the idle but will go lower and 5775 on the high end swinging a xoar 22x8 with 92 octane and still oil mixed at 50.1 man thanks jee for turning me on to this motor hopefully next weekend i will get to madien. the whole club was gathered around today. every one wanted to know what motor is was. i will def buy from this company again....

A friend of mine has one with a G26 installed. It has scale power, IMHO, and flies nice. IMHO, a 50cc would be way overkill, but some people like that. I see a LOT of warbird fliers with overpowered planes.

I have a 40cc in mine. I feel that is very good power it weighs 17lb. I have seen what some call scale power belive me when I say that is code for flying in circles only with a roll now and then. rate of clime shallow I M O a 35 should be the smallest gas engine used in this plane if you want to do more than fly in circles

i saw one fly with a zenoah g26 and it sounded like it was struggling to get enough air speed to fly. also i dont use the motor for overkill but, warbirds like most SCALE planes are tail heavy, so why add dead weight shuch as lead when you can just put a bigger motor in it and get more out of it than just weight?? the throttle dosent have to be full all the time. thats what i hate to see. these guys place the throttle at full and forget it. its as if the left stick isnt even on the radio. full throttle and no rudder. not very scale to me..

I had the chance to fly the one with the G26, it flew fine. Granted, it did not leap off the ground, but it took off fine, and would loop from level flight.

I think a 35cc engine would be more than adequate for it. I do agree that if nose weight is needed, may as well make it useful weight.
