lol. There has to be someone here who is using one. From what I've heard they sound loke they would be very solid.

I saw I guy fly one at a couple of contests in our area. He said he was a JR sponsored pilot, which explained the 10x he had and the 8611a servos and a fat JR decal up the rudder. He was using a 3W 157 (I think) in his. Looked liked it had plenty of power and flew nice. The snap rolls where kinda hard to judge though. I like the AW bipe, because it has airfoiled tail feathers, but the H9 has no flying wires.

JeeUm - Quit being a turd!( Did I say that out loud) LOL....... In that short time it had almost fallen off the front page. My how the "FG" has grown!!! Daniel-I had now idea that Mike had Nats in 03' with one. That's cool. I have always loved the looks of a bipe. But after talking to a few UPPER class guys in IMAC thought flying a bi-wing would be a bad idea. By the way I enjoyed watching you 3-d at our contest last year in Texoma. I hope you get a chance to make it this year. Mike- I know first hand about the flying wires . I've helped take apart a few that had flying wires that were a pain. I had a Dave Patrick Ultimate and liked the way in flew. I picked up a used 3w150 QS some time back that I think ill make a good match to the Hanger 9 46%.

The idea with the flying wires on the AW, was to have the same speed of an upline as well as a downline. The H9 bipe doesn't have wires, so to get the same effect. I think they made the airfoil on the wing thicker. I still wonder why they didn't give the tail an airfoil too.

I fly one in Basic, and got my first win with it last year in Pensacola. I will take it with me to Sportsman when i move up. I watched Doug Cronkite fly one in Advanced i think it was in JR SCAT (same as IMAC in SW region). I love the ultimate and i love how this one flys. if it messes up, its cuz i did it.... the stab isnt airfoiled just like the full size Ultimate doesnt have one. the thicker wings on the H9 dont need the wires unlike the AW/World Models with its thinner wings. I personaly wouldnt mess with it after putting mine together without. |

Ronbo. Do you have any video of it flying the basic?. I heard the bi-wings LOOK different when flying the sequence. What advantages would it have to have a airfoil on the tail? |

No videos, sorry. I dont notice a look to performing the sequences, and ive watched Chip Hyde fly his at the TOC. Feel is different tho, as certain manouvers need to be performed differently than monos. Spins and hammerheads are different for me than when i flew my H9 extras. Same basic control inputs, but slightly different timing or sequence is the best way i can put it. not better or worse than mono's, just slightly different. the H9 definately makes an impression on those watching it. Airfoiled vs flat controversy; i think it has more to do with 3D than IMAC, i think there is a sound bite either here or somewhere asking Chip to comment on that. i forget the actual theory. |
