Default What percentage are 2.4 mhz users?

Just curious what percentage of Imac pilots are using 2.4 at contests. I'm still hanging on to 50 MHZ as a way of separating myself from a 72 MHZ shoot-downs (not like they can't happen on 50 mhz). I'm just trying to time my change-over.

What have you been seeing?

Dave

I was also suspicous Dave but the advatages in the end got me, so I converted my 10x. I love the ability of the flight log so you always know how your radio is performing, and that is just one advantage... I wont ever look back.

I am not sure about the IMAC percent, but I switched to 2.4 (FAAST on a 12Z) and I really love the trust I have in the system. Where I fly (LA) it is really busy and I love not worrying about someone accidently jamming my channel.

I'm not suspicious, just wondering how fast the conversion is happening.

Last year I saw very little 2.4 at the 3 contests I attended. Same with the fun flys. Maybe 10%. Now over the winter it seems like almost every IMAC person I know has converted. The 72mhz board has a lot less traffic on it at the clubs I fly at too. I would say 50% of sport pilots have converted at least some planes.

Almost all the IMAC people I regularly deal with have converted so I am guessing 60 to 70% of entries will be 2.4GHz. Just a guess for now as contest season hasn't really started.

Here in the SW region Dave (you know your previous home!)......the IMAC crowd is 50% switched over by the looks of the Bakersfield/Cactus/Vegas contests. It is only going to grow with FASST out now and the release of the 12X eventually.

50mhz is so 80's.......

Yep, we had 27 2.4 pilots, 3 50 mhz pilots, 18 72 mhz pilots at the Cactus. I think we only had one frequency conflict.

2.4 Mhz?

I've switched to 2.4 Ghz and won't be flying on 72 anymore.

So is your haircut.

Haven't done any IMAC stuff down gere in the SE yet. Hope to next year.

I guess I'll stay 50MHZ until I'm 100% sure I'm being beaten because of the 2.4 GHZ radios response time.

Got an email from JR and they plan on carrying and servicing 50 MHZ gear for the foreseeable future.

IRCHA 07 at Muncie last August had 650 registered pilots and impounded a little over 100 72mhz radios.

On a local level, we had 42 pilots registered for a warbird fly in this weekend and impounded 3 radios, one of them was mine on my military scale heli that I have been too lazy to pull the mechanics out of the fuselage to change it over but I already have the reciever and everything else I own is 2.4
