Just as one example...
The SW region limits contest participation at some local events. No big deal until this year when we have changed the way regional points are tallied.
It would have been very easy to just say all contests except Clover and The Shootout (qualifying for slots or registration deadlines) are eligable for regional points.

I'm not picking on the SW Region on why they limit pilots.. Its just one example I came up with as to why all regions need to do things the same way.

If you want to get into pilot caps.........then you also need to get into rule avoidance (like pilot/dash, ACS, and Sound not being enforced at every contest).

Since IMAC is flown under the AMA rules of Scale Aerobatics and the CD's have the right to change the rules as long as AMA agrees.......its really in the AMA's hand. Don't let the CD's change the rules so easily. There is wording in the rules that states exceptions and waivers are granted when good reason is noted (like you can't fly the roller due to overflight of public property or safety due to field size). I have yet to see one good reason not to fly according to Pilot/Dash, ACS, Sound other than people just don't agree with enforcing it.

hi sweetpea, we actually had a contest recently scheduled where they thought, the dash panel and pilot would just "disappear"..guess what that CD was alerted to "No points would count", if he did that, so i believe that was resolved, and fixed. Deviations without BOD approval, will carry a penalty.. like no points counting for those pilots. i think the attending pilots will not tolerate that, and bring pressure on the CD.
Have a good one............

I agree.
An IMAC contest in Maine should have the same rules as one in California.
Makes sense to me.

If a CD changes things at his specific event thats fine but he needs to alert his contestants prior of the changes and that this will not be a contest where regional points will count.

Well Wayne I gotta tell you buddy that this was my first year to join IMAC. After reading all of the things going on here it will very probably be my last until you folks can get you act straight and get things normalized world-wide. If they're having this much trouble in the states then I can't imagine what things are like in other countries. Come to think of it, they are probably more organized. I may go to an IMAC event this year to see what goes on but I doubt I'll be taking part. Sorry but you guys just don't seem to have it together let alone have control over your rules or processes.

Wow.
Sorry to hear that.

Your making a blanket statement when in reality this thread deals with a VERY small part of what IMAC is.

FWIW,
I just checked the IMAC site and they have now given points that we were questioning in this thread.

This is a new point system that went into effect this year.
There were bound to be some questions and situations that werent considered.
The BOD appears to have taken care of this one.

Bummer you wont be taking part. Your missing out.

Al, I am also sorry you feel this way. If winning was the major concern, I wold have been long gone. I've been involved for a number of years and have never won and it really doesn't matter. I participate in the contests for the fun and "friends". I learn something at every contest and make new friends along the way. I practice alot and I compete way over my head trying to force myself to get better. Points, I really don't give a crap. Rules, continue to review and make them better and I can deal with it. I held my first contest last year and I believe most people showed up because they felt like they were friends and expected to have a good time. Hang in there Al and give us a chance to show you what IMAC is really about, stay if your having a good time and by all means leave if your not but don't pre-judge us based on what is written here, come and participate and make it better with your presence.

Oh trust me winning never entered my mind, I'm terrible and admit it but it just doesn't seem like the folks have control of their organization. Okay so I pay out my money to join, which I did, then I go to an event to compete against folks who didn't pay or join, no big deal, but the CD decides to throw unknowns into the Basic and I get out-voted. So I just paid a bunch to fly in an event against folks that aren't even members and don't have to move up for years because their points aren't counted and what little points I might earn don't count because the CD took it on his own to throw in unknowns and the guys that have done this a while all said yes???? Not what I call a level playing field. Sorry guys but IMHO you have a long way to go before you reach the level I thought you were already on.
