Wink Re: IMAC Points???

I'm not a seasoned IMAC pilot like some of you cats, but I have experienced unknowns given out the night before and the morning of. Yes, the morning of, one of my favorite contests directors gave out the unknowns on Sunday morning and holly crap were some guys freaking out, but in the end most people were happy the way it turned out. If I'm not mistaken the big boys get unknowns the morning of and isn't that what IMAC is supposted to be a minature version of the real ones?

I have been to contests in up state NY and all the way down to Florida, and no matter how the rule book, guidelines read contests are going to be different or ran different in some ways. If I was going to bitch about something it would be the way some competitors will sit under their awnings or in their RVs and bitch and wine about how screwed up things are but not once walk over to the CD and say, Hey, CD, would you consider maybe changing this or that because some of us would like to do something a different way. Then they go back to there computers and PM and email their friends and talk about how bad a CD is because he held the unknowns until that morning, or held the privious days scores just to make things interesting.

Come on guys we need to be more flexable, open, and accepting to the different interpretations that each CD has of his contest. It might get a little boring if every contest was exactly the same on every little detail. I cannot say that I have ever been to a poorly ran contest, but I can say that every contest has been different in its own way. Now if a CD is way out of line and not following the guidlines or rules we should be gentleman about it and talk to the CD and work out a solution without throwing a fit.

That's my 2 cents

Hold on, Clover Creek is not counting for SE points

Hi guys, yes the answer is exactly as ZEE outlined in post #144. Also for the record, approximately 5 hrs of conversations with Current imac BOD members, Former BOD, andFormer imac Presidents, went into this decision. Perhaps the most important person of all, the Man that is responsible for the contest, the man who is donating the site, the Money, and a lot of work, Mr John Schroder(Chief Sponsor), and i had a two hour conversation. It was very clear to me, that he is total agreement, and would like to do the best thing for the contest, and the imac body as a whole. That being Said, i as the SouthEast Regional Director take full responsibility for the decision, and appreciate all of the folks that i consulted, and donated alot of their time. The Imac BOD also ruled with the same decision, however i assume all of the responsibility for the decision that made some folks unhappy . Here's the good news ...No one pilot that i spoke too stated".I'm going for the points", oh man i'm not going now that there are no points awarded. Anyone attending ;including myself, is going for the Event, and all that it stands for! The flying, the fellowship, the oppurtunity to see the very best pilots in the world, the after hrs festivities, "Smackdown Talking", the whole enchilada; To witness the next generation of TOC, Masters, Big Badazz Events..And finally to witness a Dream of John Schroder, to build, host, and sponsor a premiere Flying Event!
I applaud every person, and volunteer making the Clover Creek Aerodrome Event happen,John,Tina Joe,Wayne,Kent,Stan,Nora and all of the pilots, and anyone else i missed.
Enough said ..time to go get a lot of practice .. this is going to be a very tight competition in all classes.
If anyone needs anymore explanations please feel free to call me, and i'll gladly discuss it with you.See you on the road.
Don

The contest judging guide and the AMA rules contradict each other. One states that the unknowns need to be handed out the day before and one states that they can be handed out on the day of or day before.

Contest guide:
12. All Unknowns will be made available to pilots on the day prior to when they will be
flown.
AMA rules:
a. Unknowns shall be distributed the
day of the contest or the night before to allow
pilots to mentally fly and visualize them. If a
contestant is found to have practiced the
Unknowns with a flying model or on a
computerized flight simulator, that contestant
will be disqualified from the entire contest.

Since the AMA sanctions our contests and we are an SIG I see the need to follow their rules. IMAC may want to consider rewording the contest judging guide to reflect that.

The BOD needs to address this inconsistency.

Clover Creek will rock!

Craig

In order for it to count, it has to be made available for all IMAC competitors, at least for all SE IMAC competitors. That is not the case. It has become a national competition, with a pilot cap around 60.

Craig, Exactly, thus my stating Triple Tree Imac contest Stands, and the contest is approved by myself. I'm totally comfortable with the contest as it is advertised, however i would like for the rules, and reg com to clear this up for next year. Until then... Unknowns are up to the CD, if you as a pilot doesn't like it, stay home, practice, build, or fly somewhere else.
Thks for your input...

I, for one, LOVE getting the unknowns the morning of. Everyone is at the same disadvantage here, no one can go homeand practice it on their simulator the night before, and most importantly, we can enjoy the evening hanging out with friends that drove long distances to fly, etc.
