IMAC will be counting the points earned for Regionals in the points race and normalizing to 1500. Do you think this is fair?
No this is not fair. In my situation, I simply cannot make it to Vegas on the weekend of the regionals due to a family wedding, so I won't be able to get the "free" extra points.. I am currently #1 in regional points, but if someone is close enough behind me by regionals weekend, they can take the championship simply by going to the regionals and getting more points for that contest.
Personally, I would want to win, fair and square - not by going to a contest that is worth more points for the same achievements...

South Central is also the same way. An open event!

southeast is not. Only open to the top ten. But I dont think the best pilots will be in the top ten due to the bonus point system.

I've emailed the entire BOD and never gotten a response. The point system does not benefit the smaller contests.

Part of the issues we are seeing is that each region is doing things slightly different..
I think that needs to stop and in doing so, some of these discussions / issues will go away.

Just as one example...
The SW region limits contest participation at some local events. No big deal until this year when we have changed the way regional points are tallied.
It would have been very easy to just say all contests except Clover and The Shootout (qualifying for slots or registration deadlines) are eligable for regional points.

I'm not picking on the SW Region on why they limit pilots.. Its just one example I came up with as to why all regions need to do things the same way.

Wayne, you know Im fairly new to all this, just our second year. Last year looking at things, I thought that IMAC was IMAC, that it was all the same for everyone, rules and all untill, I got to looking at different regions, just as the regional championship, there was one that had a stand alone contest just for the regional championship, i think they took the top ten and pretty much whoever won that contest was the champion.

I guess that IMAC sets a ground base of rules and then every region sets their own rules as to the way they want things to be in their region ?

Like you, and there is still a lot I dont understand about how all this works, it would be a lot easier if it was the same for everyone regardless of what region your in, then it would be the same for everyone in IMAC.

I have talked with Dan Rathbun (IMAC Pres.) about this and he agrees.
I think it will happen. Its just going to take time to implement.

Sorry I disagree with you here.........that is like saying you are seeded #1 in the TAS with points so you shouldn't have to show up to fly the TAS, you should auto win it.

The last contest in the SW is the the Regional Championship. Its an attempt to make the last contest more prestigous than the others. I.E......an attempt to get the best in the Region to all come together and compete against each other.

I feel your pain for not being able to make it, but I think the rule is a pretty good one.
