Leesburg can "probably" make the Cap look good! Can you? If you want to fly the Cap then go for it. If you want to compete....look to see what the top competitors are flying. Ron |

| Hey dad, You gonna fly that? ![]() | "Would a Aero Design 43% Cap be a good plane for flying IMAC?" C.J. Give the spec's. I can't find that model in a search. These guy's will need to know what equipment you plan on using to figure the all out weight. This matters in the upper classes. You would not want to run out of vertical on a maneuver. Kent

| Inverted over Whidbey Island ![]() | The question isn't is this a good plane....... but more along the lines...... -do you have good servos -do you have a strong, reliable motor -are YOU comfortable with how the plane flys If you already own the plane......then HELL yes its good for IMAC. Until you can afford another plane that may fly a easier or different. |

I have never flown a large scale cap (only 40 size glow version) and was wondering if a giant scale cap would have the ability to keep up with the Extras and Yaks. I have seen a couple guys flying Carden Caps for IMAC and thats what got me thinking. I am just starting in Basic and was wanting something that flew half way decent until I got up in ranks. I have a 42% Velox that I just got for competition. I was thinking the Cap would be a good back up plane or practice plane...(would it?) Then after words I was thinking of using the engine and servos out of the Cap and getting a Comp Arf 3.3 meter Yak55 as I progressed through the years.

| Inverted over Whidbey Island ![]() | Personally I think the Velox will be more forgiving. Good for the primary. The cap will be snap happy at low speeds. The biggest part of Basic is learning to fly straight and level at slow speeds. You only need full throttle on up lines. Both planes will work at least through intermediate. |

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | The Cap will be competitive, as long as it is setup correctly the only limiting factor is the guy moving the sticks. As far as being snap happy, I dont think there is a better low speed high alpha flying plane than a cap, except maybe an edge. The big Caps fly very nice. Just get the plane trimming sheet, take some time and get it right, and you will be good to go. You may even be surprised that you may like it better than a velox, but who knows. |

| Bad Mother Hucker!!!!!!!! ![]() | I was also cautious about the plane's snap tendencies but when I asked the seller about it he said that it floated like his Troy Built 42% with no bad tendencies at all. I also asked him about how bad the plane coupled in knife edge and he said it doesn’t have any bad flying characteristics and it was a straight as an arrow. I have watched the Carden Caps fly and they seem to handle really well at low speeds with no bad tendencies either.

| Bad-ass Super Contributer! ![]() | The cap "snap happy" is a legend going way, way back to the early models of Cap 21s, all the new generation Caps fly awesome. The top pilots don't fly them anymore because it isnt the latest craze, but sure they will make a comeback. The Troybuilt/Von Linsowe 260 was an old design that has resurfaced lately as a Dalton 260 with a few changes, it all comes and goes in cylces. PS, look at full size aerobatic competition and the Cap and Sukhoi are the top dogs and Extras are not. |
