| Flyin' Around ![]() | Hello all I read the rules and I did not see anywhere if there was a limit for engine size or model weight which can be different for the different categories : basic, sportman... Can you confirm that the limits are the same ? Can you tell me what are the limits ? best regards Julien |

| Mother Hucker + ![]() ![]() | There are no size/engine limits in any classes(except what your national body says). The only difference in the classes is basic where you can fly anything at all. Once you get above basic you will need to have a Scale aerobatic plane. In Sportsman and above the plane must be of a type that flys in IAC competition or was designed or capable of being flown in an aerobatic box(or words to that effect)

| 2009 Airbags ![]() | The rules can be downloaded from the AMA website...... But in short......... Any plane may fly in sportsman pattern and basic IMAC For Pattern above sportsman---11lb limit and 2-meter size restriction. Of course a CD (contest director) can submit to waive these two rules or not enforce them as long as the AMA approves it. For IMAC above basic.....your plane must fit the 10% scale rule of a plane that has competed or be capable of competing in the IAC competitions (which includes a box). These are full scale competitions. Also it relies entirely on the competitor to prove their plane is capable of this in full scale to the CD. The CD has no responsiblity to help you with this. IMAC is based off of fullscale. More rules above basic........Pilot required, Instrument Panel required, No opaque (can't see through) canopies and staying inside the weight limit of AMA for R/C planes. Again rules can be changed or ignored by the CD if submitted and approved by AMA. There is no small size limit in either IMAC or Pattern. If in doubt on if your plane is legal......You can ask Judge (PM on FG) he is a wealth of knowledge on the rules! |
