Viper1, Basic you can fly what you bring. When you move up to the next class the requirments change. You can get all the information you need here @ www.mini-iac.com
What club do you fly at?
If you have more questions you can asked them here or PM me your phone number and I will help you with your questions.
I would be glad to meet with you and give you pointers.

It'll do all the basic stuff just fine. I would suggest that you keep the CG a bit further forward depending on where it's set now. Try the IMAC CG test where you put it in an inverted 45 degree climb and release the sticks, it should maintain that climb for at least several seconds before starting to nose over. I like mine just a tiny bit further back so the model will maintain that climb without nosing over, or starting to climb.

If you've been more into 3D and have the CG set accordingly, it'll be harder to do the precision maneuvers.

A Funtana 90 is what I started with and it did the job of getting me hooked...

Don't be intimidated by what you'll see show up at contests, depending on which meet you go to and the participation, you'll see lots of stuff up to and including guys with 40% stuff, but it doesn't mean that they can fly any better than you!

If you can hook up with some local IMAC guys, I've yet to run across one that wouldn't be happy to help you and their assistance can be valuable.

Have fun!

The Funtana isnt IMAC legal, its not a Katana. Basic class allows anything and its fine there, but isnt legal in Sportsman or higher.
You got some decent advice above on trimming it.
