Holy Cow! We made it through day one of our first IMAC contest here in Nampa. A huge thanks to those who ventured in for this contest. We have visitors from Utah, Washington and all over Idaho. We have had a great time today getting to know one another and we were able to get in three rounds of knowns. Greg Poe made a couple of passes in his new MX2 serial number #3. Then he came out to the club and spent some time visiting with the pilots and giving out autographed shirts and posters. What a good sport to come out on one of his weekends home and spoil us and share some stories. He mentioned that he should have gotten a waiver and could have done some down and dirty smoke on stunts. So I am thinking next year we'll have to try for a waiver!!!!! Tonight we all got together for a picinic style catered BBQ and it was a great time! We all visited and forgot what categories were being flown and just hung out as fellow modelers. It was the epitome of IMAC. Our local distributor for Dreyer's Ice Cream was good enough to donate about 150 ice cream sandwiches and popcicles that pilots and spectators were able to eat throughout the day...for free. It helped sooth the warmer temps! Now if we only had a dry ice sponsor....hehehehe! I would again like to thank our generous sponsors; Fromeco Scale Avionics, Desert Aircraft, Gem Stop Chevron, Mirage Trailers (enclosed cargo trailer manufacturer), Hobbytown USA, Composite-ARF, Propwash video, SWB manufacturing, Jersey Modeler, Aeroworks, Flying Giants. Our prize purse is huge because of these great vendors! We are looking forward to the final rounds tomorrow and it will be a great time. Keep an eye on our website to see photos from the event, the winners and the awards. Brandon Petersen President - Nampa Model Aviators www.nampamodelaviators.org |

Brandon, I agree. Today was great. Flying Giants own Mike C got a chance to fly for Greg P. and show off his stuff. What was even better was when Greg helped Mike learn a better way to tumble, actually cartwheel. Amazing. Nothing like seeing the full scale and model pilots connect and work together. Can't wait for tomorrows rounds. LJ

It was awesome meeting Greg Poe. He's a great guy and it was fun flying my Edge for him. Hey Bruce, aka LJ, if you set up where I could meet up with Greg again and maybe go flying with him I would fly out there for shure! Driving was a little long.

Ouch, I was REALLY hoping that pic wasn't gonna pop up here. Just watch your back next time I'm in town. heh heh I'll do another vid soon as I go flying again, maybe this weekend. It was great meeting Greg, thanks for having him come out. But if you set up for me to meet him before the next nampa contest (not right away, but some time soon) I would greatly appreciate it! In that bottom pic Greg told me I did the tumble all wrong and that just before he socked me in the mouth. |
