Dan, you are coming to Olympia, right? If you were selling the KIWI, then I might be interested......, ha! Not going to happen. Hope to see you fly it soon.

Not selling the Kiwi. Olympia looks like only a "maybe" based on my schedule.

I have been running FASST since March in all my planes (40% 3W, 35% Comp-Arf and Python) with dual Rx's.

I chose to use the Powerbox Royal in the 3W and Comp-Arf with 2 x 6014 FASST. This is the expensive option (for sure!) but it works fantastic and gives you RX redundancy.

You can also do a 2 RX setup using the Powerbox RRS module OR you can do a traditional 2 RX setup using dual batteries and JR Matchboxes. There are tons of ways to do it.

If you are using HiTec servos I would recommend you use a signal amplifier/power box of some type.

I prefer the Powerbox Royal because the installation is cleaner, it has servo matching, dual batteries with redundancy in the regulators, signal amplification and dual RX support. The data display is also very useful (shows the amp draw when setting up servos, ms signal to the servos (great for setting up Hitec's) - and during flight mode you can see battery voltages, mah used (not working right now - they are fixing that), RX signal, which RX was used and amp draw in flight.) But it is a luxury not a must have.

The cheapest option is probably A123's, 2 RX's and 2 or 3 JR Matchboxes with HD wiring throughout. If you don't want A123's then the same setup with Lithiums and Fromeco Sahara regulators or Smart-fly turbo reg would work too.

I guess it depends what batteries you want to use/already have, what kind of servos you have, if you need servo matching, what brands you like and how clean you want the install to be.

For sure use 2 Rx's I would say. I never use to until I had an Rx failure last year. The board had a hairline crack (according to the mfg) and cost me the plane. 2 Rx's is a good deal. Failure is rare but always fatal on only 1 Rx.

Devin - Been flying JR/Spectra since the end of last year. The Carden is the third plane I have had it in. Have not had any issues. Don't see the power system as a JR/Futaba kind of question. Even though Futaba has not had the reboot issue, as far as I know, I would want a really strong power system in the plane no matter what the rest of the gear was.

I agree 200%

I was just unsure if the Futaba system has that same habit of browning out when under voltage occurs. IDK

Thanks for the info. Last thing I want to do is rush this. With hindsight however, it was the one thing I should have done. If so, I probably would not be looking for a new plane now.
