This thread was started to discuss IMAC Northwest, not pan anyone or anything. We are a loose group, and kid each other, sometimes without mercy. But always in an atmosphere of fun.

I meant nothing demeaning by my earlier post. I was under the impression that our new and most welcome member, was Navy due to the picture he displays. It was a normal question to ask when I was in the service. If I offended - I humbly apologize.

I take no offense to anything written. Its all good.

I'm excited to try out another service for a few year! It'll be like flying a new IMAC plane!

But what's the hurry ? - I'm just going to move up and get served my shorts on a platter.

Is it even possible that I can compete for the points in basic this season ? I started so late ? And of course I'll face more ridicule if I stayed in basic next year. I dunno what to do.

I've heard that you aren't forced out until after 5 wins - but I've read that 3 wins in a season will get you kicked up a class. I have one win while an IMAC member, and one win while I wasn't this year... Could I get forced out before getting a chance to compete for the regional points if I squeek out another win ? Of course some of you don't care about basic and you've voiced your opinion, but that's where I am and I do it with enthusiasm.
Don't take it to heart, seems every time someone gets a First in Basic, the "JOKE" is "Move Up".
What a lot of people do is fly their last Basic at Mollalla, and then to enable flying the full weekend, move up to Sportsman on Saturday. A good time to do so, and many I know of have taken this route.

John, and anybody else considering "moving up". You should move up in class when you are ready to do so. There is a rule that states that you must move up if you have won (1st place) in 5 contests in one season when in each contest there were at least 4 competitors that you beat. The rule is there to prevent a pilot from dominating a class unfairly. ("sandbagging") I researched this subject quite a bit last year when I was in basic. There is actually a lot written on the subject if you look for it. I agree with what I found. You should move up (usually the following season) when you are consistantly placing 1st or 2nd against the best in your class in your region. I've seen some pilots move up due to "peer pressure" or wanting to keep up with their friends, only to struggle in that higher class when they really were'nt ready to move up. And that can be discouraging. Personally, I have my own goals and peramiters that I am shooting for, and as much as others will attempt to "joke" me into moving up, I will move up when I have accomplished my goals and am ready. Some may be only interested in regional competition, while others may want to qualify and get invited to the Tuscon Shootout or other competitions, and still others may be in it only for the fun and improving their flying skills. Set your own goals and fly on to the next class when YOU are ready. And most of all, enjoy the ride.

Devin - I think this thread is your morning coffee shot of cafeine. Without it I think you would be a wreak. Keep posting - you are one of our spark plugs.

Mr Sowell,

Are you flying the Yak on 2.4 or 72?? Not sure that the Carden will be in my possession on the 19th or if that is when it ships from Cali and I may need to take you up on the offer to keep Mr Smackdown (John-man) from getting too many more points!! This may not sound very good but I'm not sure I will fly it if it is on 72 just for the simple fact I need to minimize the risk of owing you my new H9/Carden!!

Boom
