I'm working on that!! Have to get to MickyDee's and have a happy meal. Hate it when the Grandkids don't visit often enough.

For my little planes they provide some pretty good pilots.

You can also get a cool Patrick Dempsey pilot doll at Fred Meyer. He was runner up for my glider pilot position, second to the $6 gay orange Hawaii flaming Ken doll.

Hey guy's, with 2-1/2 weeks till Snohomish, I'd like to start a discussion about the mindset we all have about moving up in class/sandbagging and such. I have seen in my brief 2 year IMAC career, a lot of this joking around about "sandbagging" aimed at pilots (myself included) that are doing very well in their class on a consistant basis as the season moves along. I'm well aware that there is no ill-intent and that guys are just joking around, and thats OK by me. I do it too sometimes.
Now that I've layed out the subject, I'll start off with my humble opinion. I think we, as a Region, shoot ourselves in the foot with this kind of "joking around". I'm sure I'll take a lot of for this, but, oh well. I think that if we ever expect to produce World Class pilots from our region, we need to change our mindset when it comes to this subject. For starters, IMAC has rules in place that force us to move up to prevent "sandbagging". Secondly, I believe in the idea that if you do well, it creates confidence, which continues to grow. Why would we want our guys to move up before they have mastered their class, or at least been able to place consistantly enough to develop the skills and confidence needed to move up to the next class on a competitive level? Are we selling ourselves short here? I believe that if we changed our mindset to one of encouraging our guys to stay in a class untill they develop the skills to win or at least place consistantly, we would be developing much more skilled pilots as a result. Maybe then we might have more than just an occasional pilot even make the cuts and compete in the championship round at Tucson. Just my opinion, so whats yours?

Well Said Nick!

I was seriously considering not flying anymore because Mike R has been hammering me so hard, everyday, every flight, I was going to ask him to call for me last week but I was afraid he would start hammering me duing the sequence. Wheeeeww.... I guess I will attempt to make it to Molalla now. Just kiddin........Mike....

Hey Mike... could I get a copy of those great pictures you took of my wife....I...mean my Family! Just kiddin again!

I had a great time last weekend. I wish I could fly more contests! I am envious of you guys that make the opportunity for yourselves to fly the contests.

I did have the opportunity to buddy box with my 9 Yr old daughter for the first time yesterday, thanks to Nick Bowling, this could be a whole new level of excitement for me!

Have a great summer! Hope to see everyone in Molalla!

Vince

I've never been that crazy about having wet feet. I'll stay in Basic 'til I can fly a straight wind-corrected line consistently. When I do move up that'll give me an edge over half the pilots in Sportsmen who moved up because Basic wasn't a real class.
Nick, the sandbagging talk is good-natured recognition of the work you've put in to fly as well as you do. I find that having another pilot dominate the class just makes me try harder to improve my own flying; move up when it's right for you.

Some silly Bigger Birds over Woodburn event... Sounds like I need to come up to fern valley and fly with ya'll to get my practice in.

Hey Vince, Bill wanna practice Sunday at your field with Ben and I??? That'd be cool, hopefully it will be windy so Ben and I can practice our wind corrections like master ninja jedi master Vince!!! Dude you rock at wind correction Vince!!! I was amazed when I was judging last weekend how well you do that.

Devin

Hey guys - it's a long shot but please be on the lookup in the NW zone for a T12ZA radio stolen from my SUV last night. Here were the contents of the radio case:

Futaba T12ZA radio serial number 00201161
4 LiIo 12Z batteries (3 Sony, 1 Futaba)
2 2100 mhz Duralite LiMn batteries
2 Powerbox programmers (1 Royal, 1 Competition)
2 5014Rx’s (yes Bob – yours damn it!)
1 2.4 Ghz module
1 72mhz module
1 12Z radio case
Miscellaneous connectors, wires, etc.

Stolen in Edmonton, Alberta on June 25th some time late at night.

On moving up - best not to IMO. I have been practising the Intermediate all winter in the sim and then early season. I was not doing so well in practice and moved back to the Sportsman sequence and that is totally where I belong. If you're not scoring 9's all the time and don't feel 100% like your perfecting vs. just flying the manuvers then you should stay put. My 2c.
