Please get something bigger than two 1100 packs. I run three of the Iron Corps 2400 packs on my Extra (one of them on the ignition) and they have been serving me well. Don't skimp on batteries just to save an ounce or two.

Actually what I'm trying to figure out is if smaller batteries X2 to try and save some weight would be a good idea or not? Was considering building my own packs from the Black and decker A123 1100mah packs.

Yeah in the grand scheme of things going bigger with the batteries will be an overall advantage versus smaller packs. Based on my observations at the Oly IMAC, I think my Extra has the best power-weight ratio in the NW division.

The good part about that receiver is that it parallels the packs so your combined capacity would be 2200mah to all your servos. do you think that would be enough???

From some posts I've seen where data recording was done, with a similar setup, for a 10-15 minute IMAC style flight mah usage was in the 500 mah range. Type of flying would make a big difference and have read that the smaller packs won't give up as much amperage as the larger. The whole key is to keep really good track of how long and hard you've flown and how many mah have to be put back in when you recharge. Other research and experience could be of value in this discussion.
