Sorry to be off topic, is there anyone local to Portland/Salem preferably who flies IMAC that would be willing to practice with an IMAC NooB.... Have a private field if interested an I will travel as well.
Jim Gilbert is from OR.....He is an IMAC Yoda Jedi Master who is not afraid to use the force when he needs to.
Mike, you are welcome. I like helping when people need it.
We had a decent day at the field. We have much better days to come. Too windy and cold today.
I am loving my new plane. Its a 2 dr cadilac with a super charged engine.
Cant wait till I get it completely dialed in.
Darren

Darren you are a great judge of character, jim is the greatest, but you do need another geography lesson

I know you were sleeping most of the time, but we drove over 5 hours from Portland to Jim's place in Ashland.

So here goes - Portland almost as far north in Oregon as you can get, Ashland almost as far south in Orgon as you can get.

These young kids - no matter how hard you try you cant teach them the important things. And I tried for 2 weeks. They just wanna Fly, Fly, Fly!!

Do we typically have to meet a dB limit for the Polar Bear?? I'm pushing 98-99-100 and if that is too much I'll have to make a silencer for it... Sigh...

We are out in the country. Your plane will be okay. Besides safety issues, the biggest rule is just show up and have fun.

No dB qualifying Mike??? I read the rules for standard IMAC (not NW region) and it said no plane will fly if over 96dB.... Will I be OK at most events this year or should I continue building the silencer???

I plan on going to:

Zillah
Olympia
Cascade
Pac Coast
Fall Flyer
High Desert
and NW regionals (if not invite only)

We have waived the sound testing requirment at all our contests in the NW for the last several years. Sound is still scored, however, for each sequence and a CD has the authority to disqualify a pilot for noise if he doesn't fix it after being warned. You are fine at the level you are running.

An individual CD can require sound testing and enforcement for his contest and some probably will as more and more fields encounter problems with neighbors. If a CD is going to do this he should post it in his pre-contest publicity, ie, the contest flyer.

It is basically a DA-50R on the stock muffler (mine is actually a Chinese DL-50)...

Flynz4me: The contest is going to be held at my home field and is on Gun Club Property, so if you are louder than a shotgun or a large caliber rifle then you might have a problem, but I doubt you are louder than those guy's.
