35*40=1400

For that money we should be able to start buying stuff like PA equipment and generators. Trophies might be getting expensive because we allow them to. A digital camera, a laptop with a printer, and some $5 frames would solve that issue. RAMS raising money, hell there won't be any more IMACs at the RAMS period. I mean what are we really talking about here - you fly four rounds, get scores, and call it a weekend. That's the jist of an IMAC event. We're talking about Olympia here, not Molalla. When it gets to the point that every time I fire up my plane I fork over ten dollars, I start to wonder if it's even worth doing anymore.

Ryan - In the NW region we rarely get 35 pilots. The only contests we have that approach that number are Molalla and Snohomish in July. Perhaps with the Canadian guys coming on line we can expect larger entries and that would be great as it would allow lower reg fees. However, our recent history shows a more typical entry is something around twenty or less and we have gone as low as ~12. When a club does get a low entry, the costs, of course, remain the same.

Here in CDA we went out of are way to raise 1000.00 dollars to give the pilots a free steak dinner. The cost of dinners like this eats up all that money. That gets paid for in advanced in hopes of a good turn out. Last year we had a poor turnout and the club bairly broke even on just trophys and other expences involved. I am sure it is hard for the CD's to figure what is right for a fee. I would feel much better to pay a little more and insure the hosting club makes out alright than to see there club members frown on having an IMAC event next year!

It's not your fault flynz, it's something that should be openly discussed. It appears that IMAC NW has taken the direction of more, more, more in terms of 1) what an event entails, ex. more freestyle events and the associated costs of that, 2) bigger/better prizes for the top 3 contestants in each category, and 3) making more money for host clubs. As you can see, I disagree with the direction we have taken while I was gone. To me a grass roots approach to contests with more reasonable entry fees and doesn't required shutting down a club field all day for two days will do much more to promote what we do and encourage participation. I have a feeling this has all been hashed out before but I am a little disillusioned with what we have become, so please bear with my bitching.

Shucks here in Enumclaw, that's just what we are doing. If it wasn't for my indoor Heli, I'd be climbing the walls. This is Spring???

Tell your lovely Mommy we all appreciate it too. (Except maybe the guys you beat on so hard)
And she definately makes the events shine with her presence.
And tell her we will be on the lookout for the killer Wasps and keep her safe.

It's snowing, I can't believe it! This might truly be one of the coldest "Polar Bear" contests yet.

Actually with any luck, next week things will improve, at least a little....here's the ten day outlook from the Weather Channel: http://www.weather.com/weather/tenda...ink_undeclared

Let's just hope mother nature is getting out of her system, and will make it all better by the PB.

And I can remember back in the 70's it was in late March, now that really made for some miserable events. But cold or not - We did it!!!!
