Hi Russ,

Earlier in this thread I was having fun with Chad about him coming out and flying in Basic (which as you know according to the rules he can fly any plane he wants) I told him that if he comes out that he has to promise to fly a freestyle demo for us. It was not my intention to bend or break any of the IMAC rules because we are not having an official freestyle contest in Calgary. As far as I'm concerned anyone with the skills can fly a demo freestyle because its just going to be for fun.

Gordon

So if you set the precedence then I can fly my within size but overweight (actually a detriment) extra in pattern advanced here in BC?
Doesn't matter to me what you fly, since I don't fly that class I am not the person to ask, but I have yet to ever see anyone checked except very major events, and even then not always.

No one checks the 10% rule that I have seen - but everyone checks the scale aerobatic airplane rule. Anyway Chad it would be sweet to see you lay down a freestyle in whatever airplane.

We will have freestyle at the Edmonton event as there are some you hot-shots here who can fly 3d like nobodys business. Should be great fun to watch after all those sequences over-and-over

I vote for Gord to do a freestyle (without 3d) in his Fockker tri-plane! Snoopy and the bandit song with smoke on baby! LOL!!!

Hmm... Balsa USA called for a 23 -26cc gas motor. I bolted a Zenoah 45cc to the Fockker... I wonder if anyone has ever used a triplane in IAC competition??

Hi everyone,

Just a bit of an update on the Calgary Scale Aerobatic Roundup (July 5 & 6, 2008). This event is happening during the Calgary Stampede and those of you from this area know that a Stampede tradition is the FREE PANCAKE BREAKFAST. We are planning a free Pancake breakfast (pancakes, bacon, sausage, beans etc.) for Sunday morning July 6. It will be open to everyone! Contestants, spectators and CRAMS club members who want to come out and enjoy some IMAC. We will also be providing a free hamburger/smokie lunch on Saturday July 5th. Our club is fortunate to have a restuarant owner who supplies us with food for the big events (thanks Tony - Reef n Beef on 52nd Ave!) so its going to be great! Please consider putting this event on your calender and check out the event website at
www.calgaryimac.ca

Thanks,

Gordon

Wow Gordon - that is awesome!

I'd like to encourage all the Calgary flyers to come up to Edmonton 2 weeks after this event and "do your best" to not get your a$$es kicked too badly (again I might add - because we are coming to your event!!) Oh - did I just boost my attendance LOL! It's all in fun fellas, please come on out and give it a try - you'll have a blast.

The Meridian Model Flyers are a fantastic group of people and you will have a great time in Stony Plain at their beautiful field. Lots of upgrades are budgeted for the field this year. We will have on-site concession and I will try and get some after-hours activities set up too. Send the wife and kiddies to one of the parks, the space science center, the zoo, West Edmonton mall - lots for them to do while you fly

Time to put the paddles to this thread and bring it back to life! The good news is that we are now just 6 weeks away from the first ever Calgary Scale Aerobatic Roundup! The bad news is that including myself there are a grand total of three pilots preregistered for the event. As the CD for this event I have to join in with what all of the other cd's are preaching: PLEASE PREREGISTER!!!!

Its easy... just go to this site http://www.letsflyrc.com/imac/contests.asp and follow the simple setup instructions and then preregister for the events that you are planning to go to. This will help me and all of the other CD's in planning for the event! It also makes it more attractive to sponsers when they can see that there will be some bang for their advertising buck! Happy sponsers = better prizes and giveaways

We are having an IMAC bootcamp on June 7 so I hope to convert some of the locals to the beauty and challenge of scale aerobatic flight! Remember you can combine your trip to the Calgary IMAC on July 5 & 6 with the 10 day party known as the Calgary Stampede!

On a sad note I have to announce the recent, sudden and violent demise of the pretty little Wildhare Extra 300 pictured to the left! Dumb Thumbs on my part and completely my fault! Oh well, It was a good excuse to pick up a slighty used QQ Yak 54!

Gordon,

Everything still on the books? I will be out there Saturday AM

Have not seen you at the field in a while. I have been picking and choosing my flying times so I am alone when prepping for the Nats, so thats probably why

Hi Chad,

Yes, everything is a go for this weekend! Calgary's first IMAC in many years! This is the first time I have ever tried to set up something like this... what a lot of work! It's going to be an IMAC contest with training wheels but we are going to hopefully have great weather to put in lots of flights and have some fun!

There are some nice prizes and giveaways for all pilots. The trophies are ready and waiting. The LHS's have been great supporters and I'm ready to have some fun!

Anyone in the Calgary area is also invited out to the field have a free Stampede pancake breakfast with us on Sunday morning at 8:30

Gordon

I'll be there to help out (calling, covering the judging, judging - whatever is needed) - but sadly not flying because my radio was stolen last week just before I went on vacation. I got a new one but I am on vacation with the family so setting up and triming an airplane is not an option. I'm dissappointed as I really wanted to fly at this one since we need all the pilots we can get.

I know how much work it is Gord - I hope everyone appreciates the effort. See you guys Saturday AM.
