Plenty of time Chris....bring it along we just set it up and trim as we go.

Hell, I leave for the US Nats in two weeks and I have yet to start building my backup Integral....I will probably test fly it down there lol Even at that I only have 10-15 flights on the primary one.

I'm dissappointed as I really wanted to fly at this one since we need all the pilots we can get.

I know how much work it is Gord - I hope everyone appreciates the effort. See you guys Saturday AM.

Thanks to Bruce for all of the great info on the NW IMAC site. This is a great resource for anyone out there considering being a CD and having an IMAC contest. Getting organized takes the most amount of work but the step by step instructions from Bruce really help. Thanks for your support Jerry, hope to see you next year!

3 days to go......

Gordon

Thanks for asking!!

As happens with most new events, there was a low turnout of only 6 pilots for the first annual Calgary Scale Aerobatic Roundup. We were not deterred however and the 6 willing participants got started in Basic and Sportsman. Unfortunately some gremlins also decided to show up and by the end of the first round only 3 pilots still had airplanes to fly!! Unusual engine and flutter problems hit some very skilled and careful pilots and four airplanes passed thier expiry date. Unfortunately my own 50cc YAK was among the pile of destruction . As it turned out this provided an opportunity for me to explain to my wife how I really needed to move up to a 37% Panzl powered by the much more reliable twin cylinder DA 100

Chris Hammond made the 3 hour drive down from Edmonton just to help run the event. Talk about committment to IMAC - he wasn't even able to fly himself because his radio and some other gear had been stolen from his truck a week earlier! The two day event included a free lunch on Saturday for all participants along with a Sunday morning pancake breakfast with the pancakes and sausages being free for all spectators and pilots!

We had fun and introduced a bunch of people (including many spectators) to IMAC. When the dust had settled the results were BASIC: 1st Chad Northeast, 2nd Nedim Bek and 3rd Ryan Hetherington. SPORTSMAN 1st Gordon Wilhelm (I did manage to fly a complete round afterall before cratering the YAK!).

Chad and Nedim were flying world class pattern planes (allowed in Basic) and before you get ready to pan them for 'crashing' an IMAC party, I have to say that they were great sports about what everybody knew was a fun event. Chad in particular, as a sponsored Futaba (and many other sponsors as well) pilot made sure to help the newer pilots get through their first contest. We all have to do our part and reach out to the lost and misguided who still insist on flying F3A pattern and what better way of welcoming them into the IMAC fold than by letting them cream us in Basic!! (Chad and Nedim are flying at the US Nats in Muncie as we speak)

We handed out nearly $800 dollars worth of prizes and gift certificates to the 6 pilots!! Thanks to all of the sponsors including the major LHS's and several CRAMS members. Keep this event in mind for next year as we will be back - bigger and better!!
