Man.. I wish I could make this one. Have you noticed that there are just about as many signed up for Camarillo in Sportsman as there was at the NATS?

It is a matter of choice, John. I'm not stopping you from coming down here to fly.

I'll get the ball rolling on this one: Great job by Andy Portman, Frank Oliver and the Channel Island Condors. Things were run very well, lines ran smoothly, food was great, and the weather even cooperated. I couldn't get over how many CIC club members were there to make it happen. Great job folks! That is why this is my favorite event of the year. ![]() ![]() Steve. |

The Camarillo IMAC was a near prefect event. Great weather, perfect organization, and of course the enjoyment of flying with a wonderful group of guys. The California Condors Club really went out of their way to put on a high class event. They had the field in tip top shape, cooked a great lunch, and the event ran like a clock. Thanks to Andy, Frank and the whole Condor club. If any of you ever get the chance to fly there don't miss it, it is located in a nature perserve, surrounded by green hills, has a river, and even had deer grazing at the end of the runway. Max, I'm sure you have heard already, I ground up another prop, this is getting old. I dropped a wheel in a gopher hole, darn varmits! Turned out to be a good thing, Chris sold me a new Menz CF 28 X 10 prop and Frank O drilled it for me. That new prop changed my whole plane for the better. Thanks for the help guys. One thing I noticed was the number of young guys flying at this event. I am really pleased to see that. They are fun to watch, add a lot of energy, and are the future of the sport. They also won a lot of classes! SEG (Eric Powell) flew great as usual winning the advanced class. However, he did have a bad moment of teenage testosterone overload on landing. SEG what were you thinking? The wind had picked up on Saturday afternoon and he missed his landing approach. He did a high speed, low 180 degree turnaround, and went for a down wind landing. It was clear from the side lines that it wasn't going to work out, and then for no logical reason SEG cut the engine. Of course he ran off the end of the runway, and the plane dissapeared over the hill. I was sitting next to his father at the time, I thought we were going to lose both the plane and the kid. Luckily the plane recieved only minor damage to the gear, and Tom let the kid live. SEG, get a girl friend, it will settle you down, and burn off some of that testosterone that interferes with brain function. We have all been through it! -STEVE- |

So what did everyone think of Ryan and his new Comp Arf 260? He was great with the Chip Hyde plane, but he will dominate with the 260. I think he is ready for Unlimited.
