Maybe you can just play misc music in the background if people do not have a routine.... That way we can see some people throw down even if they to not get a chance to practice a routine to music. They (or I) will probable not finish with the big boys, but Im sure it will be entertaining.

How ever many people that sign up will fly there 4 min free. We are going to try something new with the scoring of the freestyle. Every registered pilot will pick up a slip of paper and will write down who they think were the top three freestyle pilots after the round of freestyle. The votes will be counted and those top three pilots will fly a shootout for the top three places on Sunday. The goal of this is to try to get every one involved with the freestyle. This is also supposed to be fun so if you are on the fence about flying free please give it a shot. It is more fun then you think.
who wants to fly theWe will be allowing any one freestyle but not the IMAC portion of the contest to fly in the freestyle they need to notify one of us ahead of time and there will be a $15 dollar entry fee only for those who do not compete in the IMAC portion. For every one else the freestyle will be free if you choose to fly in it. We will be giving out trophies down to third place in the freestyle.
If any one has any questions feel free to ask away.
Jeffery Szueber Jr.
I am confuse dosn't the IMAC flying & judging guide state that "A pilot must compete in one of the above (Basic,Sportsman,Intermediate,Advanced,&Unlimited)
to be eligeble for the freestyle event.

You might be correct however I actually am not 100% sure of this but in reality I think we need to give more space to 3D flying and consider it as a stand alone style! Many people are in this hobby only to learn 3D. Many have no desire for challenges that IMAC presents to them and how frustrating IMAC can be to some people! and no fun to watch for the audience!

I honestly think it would be great and help many have more fun if there was more free style programs and contests without one being forced to do IMAC!

There is something in both, so why not just at least locally people compete and try to get better.

At the moment I am flying both and love them but I started with having 3D in mind first and got dragged to IMAC because I found it to be extremely challenging and hard to do and perfect.

I think we should leave room for both and not make one a pre-requisite of other.
I think this should be understood that an IMAC pilot is not better than a 3D or vise-versa! Top notch pilots are good at both!

I also think many companies would benefit supporting and promoting 3D-Free Style events! We need to see new maneuvers! With promoting this segment of this hobby, we will push people who have passion for free style to be more creative and show us new programs and maneuvers!

There is a reason for that. When holding an IMAC event you are sanctioning that event through the AMA. This is so the focus is not taken off the event's main purpose....IMAC. (nor a decrease in time)

What Jeff has done is put the Freestyle at the end of the event Saturday. It should have no effect on the IMAC portion of the contest or delay results etc from happening on Sunday. He may have to limit the number of pilots (probably first come first serve) if he has too many to get all the flights in before dark.

He could also have added a request on his sanction form to the AMA to deviate from the rule and it would be valid.

I don't see anyone complaining though as it shouldn't effect the IMAC portion in any way. And if Jeff really wanted to get techy on folks he could wait to handout the unknowns to the Freestyle pilots until they are done flying while those who are not flying freestyle could have theirs right away.

No matter what it should be a great time

Evan, every pilot will have their allotted amount of time to do a routine or just go all out. You can fly to your music or fly to whatever is available. Most pilots fly to their favorite kind of music.
