Default IMAC SW Region 2007 Planning Calendar

It is time to start planning the Soutwest schedule for the 2007 season. Anna is working hard to eliminate conflicts and allow for good spacing and flow of the contest season. If you are planning a contest or other IMAC related event, please post your requseted dates or e-mail them directly to Anna at anna@acrodesigns.com and she will work it into the schedule.

Yes, we are starting work on the 2007 event calendar. A few of the CD's were already e-mailing me a couple weeks before the Shootout. From the back channel chatter I am hearing I am expecting a busy event season. So we need to have everyone get their events on the table so we can work to de-conflict with a bit of horse-trading on dates....

I will have a preliminary calendar with the open dates/holidays and what I know for requests so for over the weekend. I will post on the IMAC website SW Region News and also to the various forums and here.

Thanks,

Anna

SW IMAC'ers,

We are already deep into discussions on the 2007 Southwest Region Event Calendar. Below are all the requests, to date, for events in the region. The buzz on the street is indicating that 2007 will be a very busy contest season.

Please contact Anna Wood, anna@acrodesigns.com, as soon as possible to get your events on the planning calendar.

We will be keeping an up to date planning calendar on the IMAC website at:

Sam,

I think all you need to do to confirm the date, is let Anna know. She will read your posting and either respond or take care of it. (She is quite good at that stuff.)

You should look over the Contest Standards Guide on the IMAC website. Also there are a lot of resources in the CD corner of the IMAC site as well. If you need any help, feel free to contact me and I will do what I can.

Anna,

Wow !!! Looks like a busy season ahead !!! Being relatively new to the region.....whats the workshop all about ?? Also, if there is anything I can do to help at either the Basic / Sportsman contest, or at the Judging seminar......by all means...count me in.

Bill,

The IMAC Workshop is where we bring a group of our more experienced pilots together with the newbies in the sport and show the newbies the ins and outs of an IMAC contest.

We break everyone into smaller groups of pros and newbies, then the pros go through everything from how the flights lines are set-up, starting, entering/exiting the box, the sequences, judging, etc; along with some practice flying for anyone who wants to give it a go.....

Not a new concept in IMAC, we started it for the Phoenix area last year to allow the newbies a chance to see what IMAC is all about before they head to their first contest. We had a lot of interest built up for IMAC in 2005 with the locals in Phoenix. I had a number of people calling and asking about IMAC, so we thought the workshop was a great way to get the info out and a new group of pilots hooked.

This year at the workshop we will be adding a break out session that should appeal to our pros and newbies alike. Chip Hyde will be doing break out sessions throughout the day on:

Quote:
Final Setup!!! "The secrets that can easily reduce the trimming process (50-100 flights on average) to 5 or less."

If these steps are followed it makes it so that the models have no choice but to fly great right from the start. 95% of them can be done at home in the shop before the pilot leaves to field. They can be done at each individual's own pace and that eliminates mistakes that are so often made when trying to do it at the flying field.

It will be a seminar on attention to detail before ever leaving the workshop. These steps are so often overlooked simply because they are not things that will ever cause a plane to crash. However, they are the things that will make it impossible to have a plane that will ever perform to its true potential. Then after 100 flights or so it seems like everyone finally realizes they have seen this was caused because of the steps that were overlooked the night before the model had ever been flown and now the only thing that can be done to do is get out the incidence meters and and completely start from scatch again. Flights going in circles because they altered the order of events that have to all be completed in order to have a model that does not have any bad habits.
Chip called me earlier this year and said he wanted to do the set-up seminar if we had a workshop in 2007. So big props to Chip for offering his time, once again, at our workshop.

Then we continue the education process with the Basic/Sportsman Contest. Again the more experienced IMAC pilots come on out to help all the pilots through, for many of them, their first IMAC contest.

We are also adding a Phoenix Judge's School this year to go over all the ins and outs of judging and the new rules for 2007-08. This will again help the new comers, old pros and all our newbies of last year who now know they need to get a handle on judging.

We are also working to set-up another Judges School for So Cal, hopefully in January. Andy Portman is working to make that happen for our So Cal pilots.

Lots on our calendar for everyone this year and I am sure we are not finished yet.... :-)

Regards,

Anna

Vegas has decided to try to help out.

Our contest is going to move to May 5+6. That puts 2 weeks between us and Tucson and us and Riverside. I hope more folks can now attend both.

The Vegas contest is going to be huge.......I've already started working on prizes and surprises.
