Default 2007 IMAC Workshop, Dec 16, 2006, Mesa, AZ

2007 IMAC Workshop
Saturday, Dec 16th, 2006
Arizona Model Aviators, Mesa, Arizona

Saturday, December 16th
Sign-In: 8:00 a.m. start
Pilot Briefing: 9:00 a.m. sharp
Flying Starts: After the briefing
Hourly Breakout Sessions:
Chip Hyde will be discussing IMAC airplane and radio set-ups

This workshop is for the new IMAC pilot wanting to get started in the
Basic category and those Basic pilots that plan to move up to
Sportsman for the 2007 contest season. We will have a number of
experienced IMAC pilots and judges on hand to offer the new IMAC
pilot, coaching and critique. We will be flying the 2007 IMAC Knowns.

Areas of instruction that our coaches will be able to discuss include:
What is the judging criteria and what are the judges looking for.
Instruction in aircraft and radio setup.
Reading Aresti
Flying Unknowns
Throttle/Sound/Airspace management.
Contest flow and how the flight lines work.

There will be no charge for the workshop. Pre-registration for the
course is requested so we can plan to have the correct amount of
supplies and food. Click the link below for the workshop website with
complete details for the workshop

http://www.imacwebscore.com/2007Workshop/

We will break the pilots up into groups and assign the new pilots
some more experienced IMAC pilots to go over anything and everything
about flying in an IMAC contest. From pre-flight preparation, to
starting and take-off procedures, to how to fly in the box and proper
landing procedures. All questions are fair game and our experienced
pilots are there to take the mystery out of flying in front of the
judges. During the morning sessions we will have some demo pilots
flying the Basic and Sportsman knowns so the new pilots will have a
chance to see the sequences flown by an experienced pilot.

We will have subs and sodas for lunch. During lunch we will have a
question and answer session.

After lunch we will run a formal flight line, simulating a real
contest environment. All the participants that would like to fly will
have an opportunity to fly in front of the judges.

We are also pleased that Chip Hyde will be running break sessions throughout the day, every hour, on the "Final Setup!!!" The secrets that can easily reduce the trimming process (50-100 flights on average) to 5 or less... These are the things you do before you head out to the practice field. This will include radio set-up and airplane set-up. Be sure to bring your radios, this goes for our volunteers too, and a notebook/pen for taking notes.

I will be competing in Basic next year. I am practicing a couple times a week in preparation. Unfortunately, as much as I would like to, I will not be able to attend the workshop. I must save my travel schedule for competitions. I would really love to get Chip Hydes trimming 5 to 10 flight method. I know he wrote an article about it for 3-D magazine but I can't find it. Does anyone know a way to get this info for those who are unable to attend?

Thanks in advance for the help, see you guys at the Catus Clasic which will be my first event.

For those that are planning on attending this event and have not already done so, registration is available at http://www.imacwebscore.com/2007Workshop/index.php

It really helps the coordinators plan for the event.
