Ken, I see what you mean. I forgot Ohio and MI. and Canada are fairly close. It seems ILL. was slow at getting contest going but now there are a few popping up in the middle of the state. Sorry Bob. I didn't know you it was totally up to you. What does the South West Region do about this? They seem to be jammed with contest too. Dan |

I guess I was lucky.... last year I hit 11 contests and the farthest I had to drive was just a bit over 4 hours Living here in SE Michigan seems like a decent place after all.....

Dan, We do not have rules for distances in the SW. We try to get a couple weeks between contests in the same state (CA). Having two or more events on the same weekend is not an issue either if there is enough physical distance. The SW is huge geographically and terrain wise (mountain ranges). The guys in New Mexico are not likely to head to California for a weekend contest. We look at the major population centers and try to get as best a mix as we can. We have some big population centers that can support contests every couple weeks. SoCal to NorCal for instance. We also have big differences in weather. So we can get more events in over the entire year. The southerly events early in the year with a break in the summer when it gets to hot. This allows room in the schedule for the more northerly winter climes to get their summer events in. We have three clubs that would like to host a second contest. Their second contests are the only events on hold in our calendar. There are several more contests in the works at different fields from what is currently on the calendar, they will get first dibs over the clubs that wish to host a second event. A full event calendar is a very good problem to have and we do all we can to accomodate everyone without any hard, fast rules. Just a good working relationship between our CD's.... :-) Regards, Anna

Here it goes my first post, but I've been lurking for a while. It looks like we have the September 8,9 for a new contest in Effingham, IL. It is a great site for a contest. There is plenty of wide open space. Indoor restrooms with showers, camping on site with hook ups (200' from the flight line), and even a restaurant with in walking distance. We will have more details to come. Tom Baker

Marian and Will, I hope you guys will make it. I could use the help running it since it will be my first IMAC to CD. The site is great for IMAC and your camper will actually have a regular campsite to pull into with hookups. Jeff Williams

The Effingham field is a great place to have an event. I am glad they got one on the schedule!

For anyone looking for dates, the Boone County dates are open. We, unfortunately, will not be hosting one this year. It was the weekend after the nats last year.
