IMAC North Central Judging/Flying Seminar at Muncie

The IMAC North Central Judging and Flying seminar will be held April 19-20, 2008 at the AMA International Aeromodeling Center in Muncie, IN (see attached flyer for more details). Tom Wheeler and I will be teaching the class and we will also have help from many experienced judges and pilots. We also have the field reserved on Friday, April 18 for those that want to come early and enjoy one of the premier flying sites in the country.

Powerpoint presentations and stick plane instruction will be given on Saturday morning/early afternoon at the AMA Headquarters. We will be covering the basics of reading Aresti through the judging criteria of complex compound maneuvers. The IMAC Flying and Judging Guide and rules will be covered in depth including all IMAC rules for the 2007-08 AMA cycle. Tips for flying and practicing unknown sequences will also be discussed.On Saturday (late afternoon) we will move to the AMA Center Stage Flying Site for demonstration of correct and incorrect maneuvers. All participants will practice judging figures, basic sequences, more complex sequences, and unknown sequences flown by demo pilots.
We will have a flying and trimming session on Sunday for all attendees. Everyone will have the opportunity to fly their own planes through sequences with experienced pilots and judges providing feedback on how to reduce judging downgrades and improve your scores!

Is anybody willing to share a motel for this event? I have a two queen bed room booked at the super 8 in muncie, and my partner in crime is not going to be able to make it. The total cost for the room for friday night and saturday night is $124, and I would split it evenly($62 a piece). If your interested shoot me an e-mail at mike.flander@charter.net.

I prefer to room with somebody who will not murder me in my sleep, and you must take a shower at least once a week. If you do not meet these requirements please do not respond.

I will be driving in early friday morning(it is an 11 hour drive for me), and I plan on arriving mid-afternoon for some test flights.

Looks like there may be some rain in muncie this weekend. Are there back-up plans for this or do you just cancel the flying portions of the seminar?

Your not allowed to use the R word after the last week we had. We are going to have sun and 70* temps all weekend and thats that.

Man, I couldn't even get out this last weekend. We get 4-5" of snow, and the snow didn't stop until saturday night. It was decent on Sunday but the runway was covered lol...

Looks like a small chance of scattered showers on Saturday. Sunday looks good. Our schedule is somewhat flexible this weekend. We will plan to have the indoor section of the class at the AMA headquarters on Saturday morning and will have the outdoor judging/flying instruction on Saturday afternoon. The sun does not set until 8:25pm, so we should be able to get it in on Saturday. We can also do the outdoor judging instruction Sunday morning if need be.
Looking forward to seeing many of you in Muncie this weekend - we should have around 30 participants.
